An aluminum 8CM intahe with a 4 bolt mounting pattern is a stock Mercury item. It is most likely of Canadian origin.

Late model flathead distrbutors have a flange on the side that that accepts a clamp that bolts to the head. Be aware that some second rate converted SBC distributors do not have the flange, so the "tube" on the front cover is drilled and tapped for a set screw.

Not much. And remember that it is venturi vacuum taken from the middle of the back of the carb, and not manifold vacuum.

I don't understand what you are asking. Pleease be aware however, that the filter on these engines if of the byp*** type (not filtering all of the oil put out by the oil pump), not the full-flow variety.

The easiest way is to have a SBC distributor converted to fit the flathead. There are several people that do this, the best in my opinion is Charlie Schwendler in New Yotk.

man1.jpg Stock Merc intake. You can use a 2G carb by turning it around. As far as the oil filter goes, if you don't have a stock ***embly some guys run without one and just change the oil more often.

It is for sale in the swap meet section right now but I'm sure shipping across the pond would be a killer. But if you're interested PM me and I'll work with you on the price.

In my opinion, an aluinum Canadian intake manifold bored out with a properly set up Rochester 2G (small base) carburetor is the best choice for an intake system for a "street" application. I have had one on my '51 coupe since 2016 and couldn't be happier.

A cast iron one is fine, but is lacks the panache' of the aliminum unit.

BTW. if any of you out there have an extra aluminum manifold, I'm still in the market.
