When I had my '29 RPU, I haul firewood in it.
When I finish my '32 pickup it will haul whatever comes along!
They're a pickup and meant to be used as one....IMHO.

  9. My Dodge Sweptline pickup was bought to be a hauler. Fortunately, it has all the orignal paint and...uhh..."patina" (shhhhh!), so if it gets a paint chip or a scratch, so what? It's meant to be a truck. Well, that is, when I get the front axle dropped and fixed properly. Right now, it sits, awaiting the new 3" dropped axle from Sid's in Guthrie, OK to be installed!

I have a small trucking company and my 53 is a daily driver. I run errands all day and actually have a diesel tank installed in my bed to fuel up my Rigg. It's a great truck!

Maybe it's not a truck, but it still gets used for it's intended purpose. "Handyman" wagon indeed.

I bought my '61 Suburban because we needed a vehicle to haul our gear for the swap meet. PA equipment, tents, tables, chairs, coolers, boxes of parts, etc. etc.

I figured if I HAD to buy something with a covered cargo area to protect our equipment, I might as well buy something vintage.

Take the back seat out, and it'll take 4x8 sheets of plywood flat on the floor, with room to spare.

I've hauled lumber, sacks of Quickrete, rear ends, engines, body panels, transmissions, our 15-foot johnboat for fishing... It's also been used as a hunting camper a few times. It's my daily driver, so it isn't babied.

    What a great thread!!

Mine isn't really "customized" but it gets used - a LOT - and makes many memories!

Here is my soon to be work truck,as soon as it gets a spray in bedliner and rear step bumper it will be ready for work. I wish I did not have to paint it but it did not have much paint left on it.

My 57 Dodge Shes getting old and needs to cut back on the hauling...but I think I haul more than most brand-new trucks do. I Even haul My Daughters Dodge truck to shows, cause shes a show off like her daddy.

I'm with you....I don't build show vehicles. My stuff gets used. I don't do all the chrome stuff or 10K paint jobs. I build them to be driven. My 55 2nd series will have a plywood bed and a trailer hitch with a driveway paint job.

When I finished up college, it was used as my daily transportation for 2-1/2 years. It was also used to haul all the lumber for the deck on our first house. It's also been used for helping people move along with hauling my own schtuff around. When it gets back on the road, it will be used to haul misc. things around (no rocks or bulk mulch tho!) and to share time with the family.

I'm afraid of fixing up my 63 Chevy C-10 any further for fear of not being able to use it as a truck anymore.
