Hot Rods Does anyone besides me think this is cool!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tony Martino, Mar 6, 2017.

  1. Mike,
    If I was 30 pounds lighter (THINNER)
    and $15,000 richer, it would be in my driveway.
    I would just change the wheels and tires!

    Budd Link from Grand Island NY did one like that around 40 years ago. The car is still in town and has a 302 in it now. Looks as good as ever!!

    Yes, I think it's C:cool::cool:L !!!

    Here's yet another V8-60 powered MG ... the famous Paul Truesdale 1948 TC (originally built by Doane Spencer & Alex Xydias):

    UPDATE: D'oh! :eek: ... My apologies to @gnichols ... I just realized that Gary already provided two links to H.A.M.B. threads about this very same car.

    Hopefully a 302 Ford engine and not a Z/28 engine.

  14. Love it, we had a great T.D. that belonged to a former Ms. America from Grand Island, Ne.. She was moving to Alaska to teach school and felt it was not the car for the climate. I was 13 years old and my Dad let me drive the car and I was blissed out, my Dad was a car dealer and sold it for her. Her father was my parents friend and attorney. Dig that sweet little flatty in there.

    My post may have been somewhat confusing, although I'm sure Gary is just having a little fun at my expense.
    I view the 302 Ford engine about the same way I do about most stock low horsepower small blocks, kinda boring and yeah, I know, just about any V-8 would make that car a handful.
    Now on the other hand, a 302 out of a first gen. Z/28 or Boss Mustang would be my idea of a good time.
    I don't think those wire wheels would stay there very long though!

    I had one of these last year, in fact I sold it on the HAMB, with a very nasty 350-4 speed, 9" and Must 11 front suspension. No doubt the most dangerous car I have ever owned. I think it would fry the tires in neutral. Gave a few "tough" guys a ride and I'll bet it raised the stock value of Scotty tissues quite a bit. This one with the V8-60 makes a lot more sense.

    A buddy of mine has a 58 MG and is going to put one of the little aluminum Buick V8's in it. That should be about right. DDDenny, all in Fun! Gary:)

  23. Here are excerpt pages from that great R&C series on scratch building a model of a similar car. It ran in 4 issues from November '62 thru February '63, 4 pges eache for 16 total pages. A lot of coverage fro the thin mags of that era. This included December '62 issue with the first sneak peak of Roths Mysterion!

    It's a local guy, well local being in Connecticut. Saw the car last year at the hot rod fallout. Nicely done and sounded great heading out.
