Decided it was time to build something. Sat on the fence for the last 2 years about doing a T Bucket. Really like the Tribute T from Speedway but I wanted Henry steel. Ended buying a 27 Coupe body. It just seems to have more personality.

If I leave the top open can I call it a T Bucket?

Bart78, Be nice to Gramps, Offer to help him clean things up (not get rid of) at the barn. Ask him if you and him can put something together.

If you saw his plce you would call it old shit. Most of the stuff he has laying around is not worth anything. He does not throw anything away. My dad says its because he grew up dirt poor and I understand that. But he keeps everything.

  4. Hey I'm not stirring or doubting you,but lets see some photographs of your Granddads stuff please as surely by now you should of gone visiting your elderly grand parents or you one of the many that sit back waiting for them to die and wish you had put more effort in. That reminds me of an old song written and sung by Porter Wagoner called "Old Folks Home". If he has already agreed to you having one of his cars, what is stopping you getting out there and bringing it home??? I respect that your granddad has mentioned he would want it back, but heck in his later years and the time it takes to build a car,he may not be around to see the finished project.

I see my Grandfather allmost every day he lives on the other side of our ranch. I cut and bale most of his hay. I even drove him to town the other day so he could get beer. But you dont understand he is so picky about his stuff. He gets uptight about every thing. I looked at the on fathersday and its sad they have been eaten up mice and rats. The seats and tops are chewed up on every thing. He has told me I could have every thing out side of the barns. That is 2 turleback roadsters and a shit load of parts. I have some family that if they knew he gave me the stuff they would throw a fit because they did not get something.

  6. Well Bart that is all good that (a) you see your granddad on a regularly occasion with working on the ranch and (b) enjoy taking him shopping for his beer.
Hey why don't you drop over in the ranch truck to pass the time of day with your Grandfather and in conversation, tell your Grandfather that you will start loading those bits and pieces that are sitting outside of the barns up and take them away as it will help tidy up around the barns. Now what you may thing is stuffed, don't write off,as if you are really serious about building a car, parts you may think are past help, could be an easy fix for somebody else and until you gave everything up and have it safely stored away in your barn nobody will know.
Families are fun I agree, but if you are cunning and remove the outside bits with your Grandfathers best wishes, none of the other family members will notice and anyway, hey you are just cleaning up for the old man. ;)

If you like T-Buckets then by all means build one! To Me, a FAD T (T Bucket) will gather a much larger crowd then any other BASIC run of the mill hot rod.

As an owner of a few street rods, I have the most FUN and get the most ATTENTION in my T-Buckets.

I have a few of Buckets now myself and might even sell this one? Its' A few years old but all Brand New (NOS)!

It's the LAST T-Bucket made by TOTAL PERFORMANCE.

If you buy or own an old T-Bucket, you can even drop a Topolino, Bantam or many other style metal or fiberglass bodies on to these bad ass little frames for a wild show or Go car. if you get bored with the Bucket that is?

Might swap it for an old Impala or Thunderbird.

  8. If it was my grandfather I'd be over there as often as I could, listening to his stories, helping out around the place, etc. and always expressing an interest in his collection. Never mention getting rid of any of it, or even ask him for any of it.

You may end up with quite an inheritance if he knows there is one family member who cherishes his possessions like he does.

A bunch of the stuff outside is still good. The bodies frames and fender and a bunch of other stuff. The stuff that is no good is the motors and a few other parts. He took parts off the motors and left them outside with nothing over them. With the heads off the motors. I never even noticed they were like that until a few years ago. Growing up he allways told us to stay away from his cars and when you get use to seeing the stuff all the time you quit paying attention. He knows I want some of the cars.

Sounds like its time to load up the good stuff from outside and build a T bucket! The body is the hard to find part in real steel so go grab what's there, he already said you could have it right? Maybe you can make a real old time rod out of the old junk. Bye the way, is the body in your avetar at grandpas farm?
