    - Can anyone confirm if the 1940 Mercury Eight 4-door Sedan and the 1940 Ford 4-door sedan use the same Scuff plates. Can not seem to confirm this or find the needed mercury Scuff plates anywhere. Does anyone also know the part number for the 1940 Mercury eight 4-door sedan Scuff plates part numbers?

Scuff plates are also known as door sales in other more modern cars. For the 1940 Mercury car this means a metal plate that then has rubber that hangs over the doorsill to the running boards of the car. My issue is I can’t seem to find anywhere that tells me where to order these from or if I can use the Ford version of the 1940 car my understanding is the mercury and the Ford are totally different Car designs by 4 inches longer and a bit wider

@Moriarity , can you move this to the main board, where it will get more views?
    Thanks.

My guess would be no they aren't interchangeable but, as usual, I could be wrong. The Mercury seems like a bigger car than the Ford and not sure the door openings would be the same.

You have to check the wheel base if it's longer or the doors are longer the plate would longer.
Call places like the old ford store or CW Moss maybe they have some of those pieces.

Mercury for 39 and 40 were 4 inches longer in the body. For 1941, the 4 8nch increase was in the cowl forward. I owned both a 39 and a 41 Mercury.

Get one for a Tudor '40 Ford and cut it down as needed?
