I got this 10x32 panoramic photo on eBay. 1961 is written on the back. Anyone know the venue?

May have been the Ram Rods show at the District of Columbia Natl. Guard Armory. Looks a lot like it but can't say for sure.

This is the program from the 1964 show but it's rather generic with no pictures from inside the armory. 02122016.jpg

I think this is a recent show at the DC Armory. The building has an arched roof but it looks like the lights are hung at a level to compensate for it. IMG_8157.62104600_std.JPG IMG_8157.62104600_std.JPG

That may have been the Mori Bros.' V-8 Volkswagen in the one shot.

I think you nailed it Don. The roof is arched if you look close at the older picture. The clock or plaque over the door on your left in your last picture looks very similar to the first old close up shot. The newer picture just has some later added roll up bleachers.

This looks like it could be Jack Chrisman's sidewinder dragster which I believe ended up somewhere in Ohio.

Time to look at the Bob Hegge car show coverage in your 61-62 Car Crafts and see if you can match up some cars! :)

The car above it looks like Skip Barrett's '58 Corvette; he was from Maryland. I had several photos of the car that were lost in a move, unfortunately.

.................Do you know anything more about Mr. Barrett, like where in Maryland he may have lived?

Don't know much about him other than he worked for George Barris at some point in the '60s. When I lived in L.A. I got the photos sometime in the '90s from a friend who was a vintage postcard collector. Two showed the car near-stock with pinstriping; the other three showed it more radical as in the above photo with a Plexiglass top, bullet head rest, bulged-out rear fenders and the grille area made into one big opening filled with expanded mesh. Two shots were inside a Chevy dealer showroom (there was a new '61 Bel Air sedan in the background) and the other was at an indoor car show, possibly this one.

.................That's it. I think it went through some different configurations over the yrs. May have had rear fenders in 1961.
