I knew Rex only lightly. We knew enough to say "hi" to each other, with a knowing look.

But I shopped at his Glendale store quite regularly for a few years.
I was racing a ProGas Anglia at the time, and his store was just a few miles from me.

Thank you for dropping by this thread and giving us an update. I'm on the opposite side of the country and have no experience with your dad or his work, but I have thoroughly enjoyed reading these stories.

The thing that came to mind as I was reading these tales is how universally respected he is and how everyone seems to recount his kindness. We should all be so lucky to have others remember us that way. Best wishes for him and your family.

  3. I brought my Dad's Roadster home this month. We traveled to see him for his 90th, and he looks great and still has his head. He is still doing the Carbs for people.
His beloved Roadster is now with me and my car guy Husband down in the Panhandle of Florida.
We also brought home a ton of parts he gave me to sell. We have parts from the old warehouse, Western Performance, 20240729_082714.jpg IMG_9138(1).jpg IMG_9139.jpg lots of which are still in their original boxes from the 1970s.
I'll be listing some Manifolds and Cams on eBay under the username CarXpartsVintage. If there is anything you're looking for, drop me a line.

It's really neat to read about the skilled and innovative folks that kept
hot rodding and "fast cars" on the cutting edge of speed.
    Thanks to all for posting.
