??? Because you bought them in general, or because you bought them for her instead of what she asked for.

  2. Because she didn't want to change rockers on the side of the road. :D

I happen to have a NOS Ansen Posi-Shift 3 speed for the 55-65 style Muncie 318/Muncie 319 (same only with overdrive). It has two different mounting "heights" to clear the solenoid. I'll never use it, but it won't be cheap if someone wants it. Original box and warranty card. Personally, I'd look for something off that auction site we all know and love, but NOT the Mr. Gasket universal style 3 speed shifter (several vendors market the same shifter under different names). Find an original used Hurst Synchro Loc, and not the Mystery Shifter; we used to say it was a mystery how they even worked. JMO guys. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Go to KingShifter here on the HAMB. Doesn't get any more traditional than this.
“KINGSHIFT” for Cad, LaSalle, Olds, Chevy, Ford, Mercury, Pontiac. We are the home of the famous "KINGSHIFT" floor shift unit for the early 3 Speed Standard Transmissions. Our shifter was the "KING" of all the shifters. It utilizes 3/8” shifter rods and ¼” steel welded brackets. The shifter arms were hand machined on a Bridgeport Milling Machine, hardened and cadmium plated. First is to the Left & forward and second was back and to the right, which took advantage of the force produced by the acceleration of the car giving you lightning fast spring loaded shifts just by slapping the handle into second. Third was straight up and out of the way. Due to our unique design you could adjust the length of the handle and bend it cold to your choice and even remove the handle when you parked your car or at the Drive-In-Movie Theater. We have units for early Cad, Olds, La Salle, Chevy, Ford, Mercury, Pontiac, etc. Build your “Street or Rat Rod” with the FAMOUS "KINGSHIFT" and be part of History. $295 See June 1962 Hot Rod Magazine. Then you never saw a real SyncroLok. They are several orders of magnitude made better and different than the cheapo Indy, which is essentially the same as the Mr. Gasket pictured above.

The Syncro/Loc and the Competition Plus both used a lot of the same parts. Handles could be changed between 3 & 4 speeds. The Syncro /Loc was basically a Comp Plus with out the reverse.
    Both are superb shifters

If you can find a flat stick Hurst syncroloc buy it, regardless of the cost. There is no better shifter made IMO. I have one in my 27, been in there for over 25 years, and I never miss a shift. It is just as tight today as when I bought it, and I haven't even replaced any bushings or parts.

I've owned a lot of shifters over the years, and this one is the best of the best.

  8. A Mr Gasket shifter is a Hurst shifter and I have owned more then one syncro-lock. GM, Ford, MOPAR ( actually more GMs than the others they are a good way to help a sag live).
