So I've been wanting to trade my car(s) even up for a while now and haven't had much success. This got me thinking, how many out there have traded into the ride they had or have now?

I don't...but a friend has been doing it for years, I think he traded his way through at least half a dozen cars in the past ten years. Still hasn't got what he wants.

Have made a few trades but it is rare for 2 guys to each have what the other wants.

I have been offered trades on my 35 with cash difference however politely declined. Outright sale only so I can finish the 46.

I've done it recently....traded a 50 Chevy 2dr power glide car for a 40 Ford pickup. Both were projects.

I always offer to accept trades but typically, people want to trade for a Camaro or Vega or Big Screen TV. Never anything good.................

Not cars, but have traded labor, helped a friend build his car and trade for a interior in my car.

I always receive offers of trades when I post a car for sale in the cl***ifieds but they are always cars or trucks that do not appeal. HRP

Big fan of trading in general. Traded motorcycles before. And parts and labor and whatnot all the time. Never have traded a car though... might have to try that.

More to the point, what are you trying to trade?

I traded a Finished 41 Chevy Special Deluxe Coupe for an Unfinished 53 Cad Coupe DeVille 2 years ago , Cad still not finished, Cad Parts are Expensive and the Guy who was trying to do the Cad before me was inexperienced , so I have had to Re-Do most everything He attempted IMG_0403.JPG IMG_0326.JPG

Done a lot of trades on cars and boats. Usually includes some cash to make everybody feel good on either side of the trade.

Me and another hamber did an even swap, my 58 Ford convertible for his 35 Dodge pickup. We each thought we got the better deal so it was a happy ending. I like to trade.

I was able to "trade in" my Model A pickup and cash for the '40 this spring. Lucky to find someone local who flips cars who would do that. Difficult for me to do anything long distance due to wife's health so an hours drive distance was perfect and he picked up and delivered. Made all the difference to the wife, this one rides so much better that we are approaching 2000 miles since April!!

I traded a nova and cash for my gl*** deuce and then sold it and picked up my five window w/o any out of pocket. I'm pretty happy but I know it is rare

I recently traded a 67 Chevy Short Bed Fleetside and an extra done frame and some $ for an almost done Model A coupe. I was happy, he was happy.

I haven't done it for over 25 years. But if someone offered to trade something I really like for my '53 I'd be more likely to do that then to sell it outright.

  20. I still trade if someone has something that I want and I have something that they want.

Trading was a topic of discussion over the fender of a '46 Ford yesterday actually. Trading is easy if both parties remember that they are not talking monetary value, and keep it in the realm of you have what I want and I have what you want. its when dollar signs take control that trading comes to a screeching halt.

It seems that a lot of trades I have heard about lately happen at big Regional events where guys who have rigs for sale or even not marked for sale work up a trade for a rig from out of their own area.

I would happily do a trade of my mild custom '49 Olds for a roadster project in nearly the same condition. Haven't found the right deal yet, but I'm open to it. So, yeah, people trade.

I have tried to trade my car a few times with no luck. It is a project so that makes it a h***le.

    I traded even a 67 lincoln 4 door vert for a 63 t bird. Also did a trade on a 64 Rambler for a 62 studebaker lark.
I wish i could trade my 07 Heritage softail for a ride i can put the family in. But no luck with that one yet. Doesnt have to be pretty just functional. As in drives and stops safely.

  28. i've traded a few. prefer it to buying and selling. i just traded a daily driver 96 tahoe for a 63 GMC which i turned around for a 62 olds hard top. one of the best trades i've ever come into. now the 62 is up for trade. maybe for a t bucket or other random thing.

I've had numerous offers to take something in trade for various cars I've had for sale. Never did a straight up trade, usually some boot was involved. Most stuff offered in trade is usually something they can't sell and something I don't want. I don't need something I can't sell.
