WOW! If I had the room for one more car, plus anything you wanted, I'd be on that one in a heartbeat.

I hear what some of you guys are saying. I get much different offers than what I specifically request.

I always get trade offers for the strangest things, and there is a lot I'm interested in too. Right now I've got an old truck up for sale or trade that's had a bunch done to it, it's a driver and someone offered the same body style truck that wasn't even running.

I love to trade! I've gotten so many parts for my roadster project by trading labor, usually some pinstriping, for parts I need. Can't beat it!

  7. Yep- trading is tops. I trade a lot and like said, it's addictive. I've done well, trading up and cashing out. I also trade outside the car world. I'm a winemaker and some people Need wine.

Traded a lot of parts, engines. Always seemed like motorcycles or shotguns were offered for trade. Traded with the same guy multiple times, he'd get a car from me, tear it up, come back and trade that car on whatever I was selling plus cash.

7 years ago I traded my '34 3 window straight across for my '34 roadster.
Last year a friend traded his 41 Dodge pu for a 47 Plymouth coupe. It took him three years to find the right trade but he was patient and did it.
But most guys I know who want to sell or trade never find the right deal on trading..

With enough trading you can start with this [IMG]
    and end up with this...

Keep in mind it takes years to reach this level.

I think with my luck lately, it might be best to either part one or both out or put them in the back garage in storage.

  14. Ah hell I'll trade you my jeep ( '61 Willys) for something different. I don't even have to look at it your honest enough for me. ;)

  15. ...done a few trades that were the other guy's idea; but I think I came out better; he probly thot he did, so all's good.
traded a 49 IH short panel truck for a 55 Chevy p.u. I'd been tryin to buy for years;...and traded a project 48 Ford p.u. for a nice project 40 Chevy coupe from N. Dakota even up. Also have done some part trades with cash goin both ways; seems to work out well.
Hope you find that elusive 30-31 A coupe soon.

  16. A lot of posts on this thread, perhaps we need a "Trade" section in the classifieds....

I like trading...I do upholstery work, so I have that to offer. The '57 F-100 I'm currently building was acquired by upholstering a seat and door panels for the seller's '29 Essex coupe. I have a '49 Fleetline that I received in trade for some upholstery work on a guy's pickup and my old Miller Tig machine was payment for a little upholstery repair job I did for one of my regular customers.

Only traded once...trades some crap I had laying around (that I got for free, I run a junk collection business), for a '52 Plymouth. I'd do that again in a heartbeat.

Every other time I've tried to trade, I got offers either for cars that weren't even close to what I said I was looking for, or CRAP, i.e. X-box games, electronics, etc.

I'm not against it, but it's hard to come up with something that both sides want.

  24. I traded for most of the parts on my roadster. I think its a lot better than needing to dish out cash when usually you each have a part or something the other guy needs.

I traded my avatar '32 roadster for my current '53 Ford and some cash. I like cash. It makes me smile.

Trade parts alot. Last trade was a disc brake setup for 49-54 Chevy spindles for a brand new set of Coker Tires.

  26. Not full cars, but I barter all the time, usually parts for me cutting parts out. My wife doesnt like it but it is money in the end. I have one shop that retails steel sales and on the side he makes rock crushers for gold mining. I cut out his parts and order steel from him. I havent had to buy steel for quite awhile.

    I traded a 67 Corvair for a package deal - 63 VW and a 53 Chevy 5 window 1/2 ton.
I sold the bug for what the vair was worth and a year later sold the truck for 3 times that.

I have a custom Fatboy and a restored FLH Shovel that I've invested over 35k between the 2. I'd want to trade for something good with 4 wheels. Always get offers of Hondas, tractor other stuff I would even think about.
