Projects Does the HAMB really need another shoebox build thread?

    Here is a method that I use, it works on the old asphalt based undercoating.

    I found that by using a piece of 1/2"copper tube over a straight chisel in my air hammer it will do short work of it.

    With the pipe hammered into a chisel the copper is too soft to damage the steel but hard enough to chip off the asphalt.

    That copper tube chisel looks like pretty fine solution.That factory tar crap can be real pain in the ass,i know it because i've peeled most of that stuff out of my shoeboxes body..

    That's some great thinking! Copper tube is cheap too, and would be easy enough to replace! GREAT IDEA!

    There is a down side, you have to reshape the chisel end every so often. the piece you see here started out 3" longer then it is now ,it tends to break off when it work hardens......

  20. Those stick out too much if'n ya ask me. You're getting a bit ahead of me, I'm still mulling this over, still not sure what I want to do. If I can make mine look half as good as geeman51 I'll be a happy camper. I'll get to the headlights in a few weeks I hope.

    I like them too . I guess I picked a wrong example on the 53pontiac ,=different car , They do stick out ,but I think it's also a bad picture,
