  1. Alright genius, put up some pics of the work on your 55. Kinda makes me miss the old days where the FNG's got a ripping regardless.

  2. I think this (person) is just someone yankin' our collective chain. Read some of the other gems this user has posted and I' think you'll get the same idea.

  3. Yeah, I had read some of his other smack talking posts. I should just let it go but guys like that used to get called out and reemed.

  4. There seems to be so many of them now that it's too much to keep up with. They generally fade away pretty quickly though.

Their is a mindset out there that goes if this much is enough ,then this much is better.I have been known to overbuild some things from time to time but the fact is if you don't need 18 inchs of travel ,don't build it that way.
It could be worse ,he could have ground all the welds down and weakened it even more.

People like that make me look like a friggen Genius.

Either your whole profile and exsistence on here is a joke or you are really just a stupid redneck from Wyoming. I'm not sure which you have less of, brain cells or teeth. Either way, please refrain from ruining the quality of this hobby with your intuition.

That sucks so bad. The same kind of thing happened to me. I took my truck to a guy who worked at a "Customs Shop" and he was doing some work on the side at his house. I hired him to Z my frame behind the cab and mount the rear-end. When I got the truck bad, He just took some 2x3 tubing and ran it straight out of the frame and he put the shock right against the crossmembers. Over all I spent almost 700 bucks for this guy to take a mig and screw up my frame pretty bad. I will try to get some pictures before I take it to my buddies shop and get him to help me fix it. People like that are gonna get someone hurt or killed!

watch out for him if you're in texas. that thing must be horrible to ride in if it runs. the body less than an inch off the ground at ride height.actually looks like its touching. from the pics, definitely no bags. must be smart. its cool to have sparks flying off the back of your car, right?

He might not know any better, maybe its his first time at this, and he thought he was doing it right, but nobody explained that it is not the correct way, not everybody is out to intentionally build shitty cars, all of you had to learn somehow.

Butcher.....too bad, because it is a waste of a car that HAD potential.

I wonder how many decent cars are getting wasted by clueless people these days?

    from nowhere...

you know...though...the thing is, they've been wasted this way all along...I think it is a common misconception to think that somewhow everything done in the past was: "right"
Their have been butchers all along, and probably , due to the grass roots nature of the "early" hot rod movement, an even larger percentage of the whole. back then, technology was primitive, and most of it was backyard engineered, with the exception of the military trained guys, returning home...They were making it up as they go along. plain and simple. I think lots of folks view the past with rose colored glasses...
there are alot of guy's right now, that I know that would tell you putting drum brakes on something is Freaking negligent! rubber fuel line?! coming from a block on the firewall?! hell no!!!...but, opinions are like...well. you know.
not saying un-safe crap is cool...just that its been this way all along, only now, we have a larger amount of people doing it.
how many of those early cars did anyone have close up detailed pix of the engineering?

  14. Thats not that bad...the notch we did on my friends 52' Sedan looked a lot like that...when it was about a third done. I don't think mine was that deep though.

I still had to finsihing boxing it, fish plate, and gusset it. I used 3/16" plate for the notch and 3x4" box. Can't make out what he used.

    Maybe hes not done yet.

  15. you don't have enough posts to know about safety and OSHA, after 100 or so posts, then we might start listening to ya. keep up the good and positive work.

obviously unsafe. Obvious idiocy in the comments in this thread both from fng's and others.

So, what I am to understand from this thread..... the number of posts on the hamb is directly related to the amount of knowledge a person has? Wow, I better start posting more so I can be as smart as you guys!

And for the record the notch i did was a C notch not some horrific 3 foot tall step notch, and yes my dad did cut the parts out on his burning table for me, woo freakin hoo, i did all the welding, fitting, and griding, dont try to bring up stuff that has nothing to do with this guys dangerous workmanship, this is an issue of people safty, not someones feelings for christ sakes.

  29. ok gasser52 aka duke is 16 years old and hes just upset that his ex is now talking to my homeboy here in texas. I have seen this car in person the notch isnt even done in the picture. he painted it just to seal it. he already finished it now, i have also ridden in it and its a great ride. he might have over killed it a little but it was pretty damn good for his first time. but as far as this 16 year old drama it needs to stop!!! it is a daily driving car that has had no problems, so duke when you can actually sit in the front seat and see over the dash hit me up and see who can make the better notch. As for aaron who made the notch yes he will be helping out me with some of our builds here in texas.

I saw this kids car once, he smoked the tires, but I guess he didn't realize, or just plain forgot to finish welding the floor where the notch was and completely filled up his car with burning wheel smoke. He ran out of his car coughing and almost puking... Oh well not my car, don't care to know him either, let him do what the hell he wants and if he hurts himself or someone else that's his deal.. I live in San Diego now and not San Antonio...
And as far as my girlfriend drama save that drama for the streets...
