It looks remarkably good for an engine fire. Tire still holds air, lights and grille are okay. Hood either melted or removed by the gentlemen standing behind it. Even the windshield is enact.

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but hot enough to melt that fiberglass fender but the tire is still inflated ! The hubcap didn’t melt !
Sure could be an A I created image. Hard to tell . I sure hope I’m right and nobody’s Corvette was harmed

    you are a conspiracy theorist!!

if it were AI there would not be actual words on the signs, at least on all the AI I have seen.

AMT model kit or real? If real what electrical item caused the burn?

  14. Sorry to be skeptical but it almost looks like one of those model scenes where the car is shot from a low angle in front of a natural scene or photo background. If not, hope his insurance is good.

edit: read the news report posted. It’s real (bad).

You're telling me that after paying someone to rebuild that back best it can be , that you'd break even monetarily . 1500 hours @ $250 per hour plus parts !?

    We lose $$$$$ here
    That’s what we do

  18. For that build you need friends that build pro touring cars.
other than the body and some of the trim, the rest gets sold.
Friend of mine is doing that with one now.
Had a ton of leftover vette junk for sale.

Just sayin', the thing that heat does is rise.
The fiberglas was over it, the tire not

  20. I'm just optimistic (crazy) enough to take something like that on....not with the intent to make it back into yet another perfect, numbers matching, concourse restoration though.
I'm thinking in your face Hot Rod, or custom, driver...Corvette enthusiasts by Damned.
If it were cheap enough, doing my own work (like many on this web site)...sure.

  23. Jim Glass Corvette bought one the was burned much more than this nothing left from the firewall forward, and sold it for a profit to someone who wanted a to build a custom.

Why are you assuming that the person who buys it wouldn't do the work to repair it themselves @2OLD2FAST?

And then, instead of another ho hum stock corvette you would have a car that people would run up to and say "man what a beautiful car"

You could start with this or start with choice number two. I looked at this last month, a friend of mine offered 10K and was turned down. upload_2024-3-9_14-15-46.jpeg IMG_3837.jpeg IMG_3840.jpeg IMG_3851.jpeg IMG_3843.jpeg IMG_3842.jpeg

Yeah, if that burned up '57 Vette is no good, I'll take it! Sad to see. It would be a great hot rod.

The Ms, my 84 year old dad and I have replaced the whole front clip on a Vette. That’s a relatively easy fix in my mind if the bulkhead is ok.

  29. Just last night night i installed redundant extinguishers in the 57. Some hellbilly put it together, it could erupt at any moment
