Technical Does this tach need a transmitter?

It's a green line tach, so it should need a transmitter, right? It has 5 wires. But the back of mine doesn't look like all the ones I've seen on the Google. It has a cylinder selector (6 or 8) and it looks like electronicy things inside when I peeked in the gap. Do I still need a transmitter? Thanks for your help. With that many wires going into it, it shouldn't need a transmitter. But, that has weird color-coded wires. Normal tachs have :

    Red - Power
    Black - Ground
Green - Tach Signal from distributor
    White - Light

That has Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow. The first thing I'd do is take it out of the case and trace the wires and see if you can make sense out of where they connect. If it doesn't come apart, I'd ground the blue wire and momentarily apply 12 volts to the yellow wire and see if it lights up.

  3. See if you can get a circuit diagram for it, and post it up here. I'm sure someone here can decipher it, even me.
