Does your wife/girlfriend like the hotrod scene

She has no fuckin choice! No seriously,she wants me to get a bigger shed!Doesnt want me inside!

 

I'm kinda lucky in this regard,,,my wife is really the one who bought the '54 chevy for me (I was already looking at it) for my 40th birthday last month! I guess she figured I needed another project to keep me out of trouble!

My wife is learning. she likes that I spend my time in the garage and not out at the sports bars and cars are a better vice than many of my friends have. Her only rule is I have to buy her a piece of jewelry for each vehicle I buy, and she gets to choose the color scheme for each car I build. I am okay with that, as I still get to play with cars. She is now having me build a 55 Fairlane so she has her own car to cruise with.

 

I can't even imagine life NOT in the car scene. I have my own truck. These wifes/gf's not interested just don't understand the excitment from driving in a classic or going to a dragstrip. Hell...when i go no vacations they are to car shows (jalopy showdown. heavy rebel etc)
I guess us girls on here are rare....

My girl is the best..she likes a few shows then enjoys staying home for others.The bonus is that her dad has a large workshop with 3 hoists set up!!

 

My bride loves to talk about our ride....she likes to cruise to other towns and go to shows...she's pretty cool...

 

My wife use to really enjoy the drags and went at every opportunity. In fact in the seventies I built her a 66 Barracuda with a later 198 /6 engine well done up (15.80s) . She was deadly on the tree and raced every weekend during the last few years at Mohawk Racelway in Desornoto. She brought home a bit of gold too. But that was back when it was family thing and the was absolutley n booze allowed. Now she wont go. Uncivalized idiots walking around talking about this F--ing theng and that F-g thing and booze flowing freely everywhere even in the pits, it is not a fun place for her to be. You cant even sit in the stands with out getting a severe ear burn. I dont know what has happend to North America but we have gone from a decent fun loving adventursome lot to a bunch of foul mouthed halfshaven beatniks . It ruins it for everyone. I have no idea why people think talking and acting like fools makes them tough. It makes them an idiot in her book for sure. We do have a local stock car track that even has a warning sign on entry that "this ia family oriented faxcility and foul language and lewd behavior will not be tolerated. Hows that working for them? They pack the place every single night they run. if you arent there before 7:30 you will have to stand to watch. i dont particularily like stock car racing but she will go there just because she can count on folks being decent and repectable.

yep... hell, so much she just signed up for the hamb... now I do all the wrenching, she hates that part but the actual cars,shows, and people she likes.

My wife loves it and supports it 110%. She was the one that reminded about the Lonestar Round up this year, I have been so busy trying to get the new shop finished I forgot about it. She even agreed for me to put the our 50 Shoebox on hold so I can start building a Ratrod, once I finish the new shop. Got to love a woman like that!!

 

I'll take a minute to brag up the wife, she had this truck running by her 16th birthday long before I met her, and drove it as her only transportation for several years, we tore it down for a complete rebuild two years ago, she was right in the middle of it the whole time. turned out great

my gf loves this stuff. she has been bugging me for months to go back to the drag races and she is dieing to build her own hotrod someday. i think i'll keep her for a while

 

Man my wife is the best. 44 years by my side through countless hot rods race cars and assorted crazy times. First pic is 1966, a week before we eloped, my '65 big block vette, cross ram, two holley four barrels, 4:56 gears. Next pic is our new car, delivered this morning, May 1,2010 from a fellow HAMB'r here in NH, our new buddy Ray (onekoolkat1950). '50 Crestliner, chopped 5 1/2, rolled pan in rear, lowered, flatmotor, duals, wide whites, the way it was in the day when I went to high school in the 50s. I will achieve a goal I set a long time ago, we'll be cruizin in our 70s and enjoying every minute. Don't put off what you can do today, you never know what life has in mind for you (we are both cancer survivors)! This next week my kid will stripe it for me, hey if have a kid, how cool is it to have him be a part time striper?

 

My girlfriend gets bored,never comes to shows,doesnt like cars and gets pissed when i buy something for it...so the answer would be no...but i dont give a rats fat ass.

My Baby isn't into it much, but she knows I like it, so she never gives me grief about it. When I buy another 'piece of junk', then a year later I sell it and we make ten grand, then she really likes it. She goes to a few shows with me, she is a great woman....I'm blessed.

 

Aw, my ol lady bitches about my cars, the money, the time spent... But, she also encourages me on other days (lady jekell and hyde?). She only freaked out a little when I brought home my wagon- our twins were 32 days old and she said I should be driving a 4 door. I guess she thought maybe a camry or accord...not a chevelle w/a big block and a four speed. Oh well, she'll get over it. Gotta raise these boys to bang gears!

 

I am truly blessed, my Wife likes the old car scene and especially the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion! Almost 37 years, cool huh!

 

The '49 is my wife's car, I'm just making it into a daily driver for her. I'm more into bikes myself, but after this car I may be getting another....

 

My wife says as long as nothing of mine goes IN to anything of hers it's ok.......Wait we're talking about hot rods and junk..... My wife has been very supportive of all the motorcycles , 4 wheelers , cars and trucks I've dragged home. Hell she was pregnant last year and went to the Rust Revival in my haggard 49 Chevy half ton. Blew the damn thing up 2 hours from home and she didnt complain once the whole trip. I guess we are some lucky bastards.

 

My wife is into because I am, and more so now that we have been together for a while. I think it may be growing on her. She does prefer the events were you can see the cars driving around like a "Goodguys" etc ...

 

One day the wife told me that it was either teets or tires so you will now find my expensive chrome mags with fresh rubber residing in the "powder room" right where the pink laundry basket used to reside.

Number one rule of thumb, never let teets control were tires are sitting, teets can be replaced.

My wife got into the scene when we were dating. cooled down when we got married,then got back in when i bought her a car. we work on it together but the garage is still ALL MINE!

 

My Wife digs the shows and the cars. It has grown on her more in recent years, and she knows I am spending money on something we both can enjoy. She likes to go to shows where she can wander around shopping too
