my wife of,.....17 years this November (shit,....17 years?) is into it, she helps me work on all my projects, and can weld, wrench, and wire better than a bunch of guys I know.
a couple years ago leaving for the Round-up, we wadded up a belt (sepentine) on my 50 Chevy truck, pulled into a gas station and got the hood opened, she started grabbing wrench's and helping before I could.
A couple of the Highway Horror's Car Club saw her in action, and couldn't believe it.
And no she doesn't have a mullet and no she doesn't have a chain wallet, and a flannel shirt. she is 100% all girl, which is even better looking when she is under a hood.

  2. My sweet wife dosen't give two hoots for it but loves that I love 'em all the same. She encourages me. She likes the fact that her '99 Corolla gets her 'there'. She thinks English Fords are 'cute'. I like 'em with 500 hp stuffed in 'em.

The hot rod thing has been mine only for a long time, I was always trying to find a way to get her involved. And one day she saw a vintage travel trailer behide a rod and asked if that was something we could do......"O HELL YES" I said and the "will you come in the house", "Do you realy need that car part" all stopped. Best buy I ever made! Here's a pic.

My soon-to-be-wife just went through and read every post with me, pointing out all the ones that matched her. Not a huge fan, more just tolerates it. Still gets up me for spending too much money though!!! Might all change when the build is done and she goes for a ride. I can hope anyway.

Met my Hubbie while Draggin Douglas over forty years ago, been his wife for 38, cars bought us together, cars keep us going. The rest is just candy. I wish you all the best!

An Ex-Boyfriend of mine was tellin his buddies I was a car snob. Bet one of his friends I wouldn't go with him when he came to pick me up in his 52 Studebaker truck that was mostly rust and bare metal with the top rercently hacked off, so it was a convertable! When he knocked on our door, I walked out on the porch, took one look at this truck, clapped my hands and ran out to get in. It was then I noticed the door were welded shut. I asked Sammie how I got in, he just smiled and said "personally I jump in". So I backed up about ten feet, and did exactly that!! Sam won that Ten Dollar BET!!!!! We had a great time in that old truck!!!!!! He took me down on Douglas, I was sittin on top of the seat when we saw my Ex, by then I knew what was going so I Just stuck my nose in the air and proclaimed I was a CAR SNOB!!! The Jerk knew then that I was in on this little bet. LOL

My wife loves hot rods she rode with me 5 hours in 90 degree temp. to Lake George N.Y. in my channeled 40 pick up with no complaints. And rode home in the rain with no wipers leaking cowl vent and windshield. This year she is taking her own car with ac and wipers.

My lady loves the hot rod scene. As a matter of fact, we've been building her own '65 Chevy shortbed... 283/th350, frame off. She's been in the mix, turning wrenches through the whole process. We've recently started cruising it...

These pics explain alot... She rules!!

It is SO great knowing there are more and more ladies getting into this and owning thier own car. Shoot this lady is loving the company!! We started off showing MY car. Hubby used to park it waaaaaay in the back because it was bone stock, today? If we aren't drivin his were drivin mine and no matter which, it is parked where everyone can see em, even better when we take BOTH!!! Now THAT is the coolest.

My wife has no interest in building them but as soon as they are safe to drive she hops in and hits the gas! Brings them back with an empty tank and a big beautiful smile.

  14. My wife likes the fact that I have so many friends from the hobby but isn't into the cars or shows at all. She has driven the cars and, when it suits a need, likes me to take her and pick her up in the hot rod or another of our cars.

Yesterday, My wife and I celebrated being married 35 years. :)

She knew I was a car racing, Harley riding, wrench twisting type of man when she married me. She has come to really enjoy the car scene. I no longer race ... ( at 61  ) but she fully supports the hobby and encourages me to work on the cars. She rode in a 32 Roadster for years.

She likes going to the events and travels well. No complaining or nagging.

She enjoys my friends and their wives comany also. She is a KEEPER :)

    She wanted a closed car ... so we built her a 32 3W ...

  18. well when they say "are you done looking yet" or "can we go now" is their way of saying they are giving you a little rope to do what you want to do - but - now it's time to do what they want to do. just my 2 cents

My wife loves hot rods and the whole scene. She enjoys everything about the cars, shows, and people. She is a traditional PinUp Model (No Tattoos, Just Classic Look) so we travel to alot of show just for her modeling which allows me to get to lots of cool shows around the country. She knows her stuff on hot rods and loves to keep learning. I am lucky I guess.

I do beleve the old saying, when a couple gets married, the man wants the woman the stay that way, and the women wants to change the man into someone she really wants...not in all cases, but often times.
Someone posted that his girlfriend, and soon to be wife really supports his hot rod hobby. Would be interesting to see if the answer is the same in about 10 years...

My wife likes the scene, but does not like me spending so much time in the garage. I try to explain you can't have one with out the other, but she never really understands that part.

  28. I figured my wife was a keeper when she looked forward to a 5-hour trip to Louisville in 90+ degree weather in an old hotrod. My wife loves the scene so much that she suggested we use our garage as the setting for last year's Christmas card. She enjoyed it so much that she is already planning for this year's card.
