Finally found my cordless drill, under the sink with a dead battery. I suppose her own toolbox is the only way out of this. Please don't tell me to get rid of her ,47 years married and her income is twice what mine is, starting over is not an option.
    Now wheres that sawasall?

  6. No, but she has her own tool drawer in the house. She is constantly accusing me of taking her tools out of it and not putting them back. She could be right. Tools seem to naturally gravitate to the garage.

  7. She must..I'm missing a bunch of screwdrivers,pliers,assorted wrenches,a tape measure and a hammer.:D

I will have to give ladyhrp props, she will try to fix something before she calls in the Cavalry. HRP

I tried to build her a small tool kit, but it seemed to be easier to go to the Sears tower and snag one of my tools. When I began finding my tools scattered all over the house, garage and yard, I locked every toolbox and wouldn't let her have the key. Of course, she replied that "two can play at that game."

My next wife will most definitely have her own set of tools. I hope she has a nice air compressor and blast cabinet too.

yep , when I upgraded my tool box and sold off parts of it I saved her the middle cabinet and gave it to her , and all my misfit tools I have gathered over the years winds up there , plus she had her own stuff when we got married as she was a single mom for many years , she knows better than to go into my tool box without asking and any of the other cabinets as shes afraid something might fall out and bite her . and she also knows not to loan any of my tools to neighbors .

My wife can only charge a cellphone, and change a light bulb if I coach here.

But every other task, Is made for me. And that's despite she wants the same rights for women.
But we can't share the "male tasks", but we have to share all the "female tasks".

    Bummer. [emoji15][emoji33]

  14. My wife has her own tool box. She loses box end wrenches with some regularity and I replace them as needed. The bigger problem is that all my heavy extension cords seem to disappear off my shop wall, one by one, and vanish. I can usually find one in whatever truck she is driving, if I need to. It is harder finding the lost box end wrenches. ...but she is a keeper.

The ex didn't have a key to my garage.. easy..

The g/f doesn't, either. Good thing, cause she does love moving my stuff around...

There's a room in my house with a locked door, too.... no extra keys for that one, either..

Nothing moves around or disappears from that room... if I can't find it, it's my fault

Jenny has her own.... it's pink and every holiday she gets new tools. Mine stay out in the garage.

  17. I bought mine a nice red tool box that she kept in a kitchen closet, even had her own channelock pliers and a rack of screwdrivers I mounted to the inside closet wall.

Yes definitely especially since tools run away while you use them (see lost tools thread). It is even worse if you don't watch them.

My wife HAD multiple tool boxes before I knew her. Her first husband was a mechanic with a Snap-On fetish but when he died at 39, she gave all his tools away to his friends, thinking they had little value.

I'm thinking it's the friends that had little value, since they knew she was a broke ass widow with 2 kids and pile of medical bills.

We have family tools-and we share-she just knows where I left whatever it is I'm looking for. Since we live in the country, we've generally got multiples in the house, the barn and the shops. While not the primary project person, my wife's been major worker on building a house, renovating another and actually did about 80% of the work on turning the 2 bedroom house we had when in school to a 3 bedroom, two bath + recroom house-but cutting through a 16" stone wall and making the new entrance through an old closet space.

All 3 of our girls went off to college with very complete tools kits for their cars and dorms. They also all learned to drive on a stickshift-but have to get automatics since their husbands can drive otherwise! :)

I got my wife a tool box to keep my tools from wandering off. It worked for awhile. Then I noticed that my tools were wandering again; sure enough her toolbox was empty.

Now that I have a detached garage that is a couple hundred feet from the house I'm not loosing so many tools. It also helps that the kids have all grown up and moved away. That and the grandkids aren't big enough to carry things off, yet.

Yes. I have one in each garage she needs tools that's were she gets them. So they must be hers

  25. My wife has 2 screw drivers and a pair of pliers in a kitchen drawer. I borrow them to fix easy things for her. If it requires more than a screw driver and a pair of pliers, I have to walk out to the garage for tools, then it will take days to get fixed. She knows better than to try to fix anything herself, she'd probably strangle herself if she picked up that pair of pliers.
She has good intentions though, she offered to clean my garage one time, I sat her down and we had a talk about that one. I still get nightmares just thinking about it.

My tool box is just inside the garage from the kitchen. Tools are always there. They don't walk away unless I'm unable to finish a project. In that case they are on my bench where I left them. She respects my stuff enough to put it back.
