Coming along. Back up to just 3" down. Wheels/tires would not clear.

Front wheel arches, installed on the rear openings, are up next. Bat-rolling the lips was not enough.

Looks good. I scored one fender already, and found another. Now, if I can just get the guy selling it to respond, in any way. Ahh, Craigslist.

Just make sure you get a fender without a proportioning flange. You don't need it.

I scored it about two hours after the last post. Now I have both.

The first one I scored is nicer than the one on the car already, so the original will likely become the donor.

Im looking for rockers for my 61 and want to know if there are any available with the extension on the front, that wraps under the fender. I've called dearborn and they say its " exactly like the original but I'm not sure if the girl on the phone understands what I'm talking about. It should look like this. Who here has a pair of post-early-'61 6-cylinder spindles (later, full-size ball joint) that they want to part with?

The part number should start with C2, or higher, like C3.

For the uninitiated, in Ford dating nomenclature, C is the 1960's, with the number being the year. D is the 70's, etc.

They would be for Falcon61wagon. He's doing an upgrade, and has the dinky little early ball joints.

I don't have any loose right now. I could probably lay hands on some fairly quickly and inexpensively if nothing is found closer. I wish I was done with the legalities on the wagon, I'd just send them out...

  20. 08082014.jpg Just saw this when I was thumbing through some of my old R&Cees.....July 1965, Baltimore, Md. Anyone remember it? Apparently ran A/G with a punched out 389 Pontiac.

The part number should start with C3, not C0, C1. C0-1 are the earliest spindle, with the micro-joints.

Should be something like C3DZ-3106-A and C3DZ-3106-B.

so I finally got the correct pitman arm. removed the old steering linkage and installed the new parts. I reused the outer tied rods and adjusting sleeves. the tie rods turned all the way in are to long. looks like I need to trim some threads off the tie rods and shorten the adjusting sleeve. also the center link hits the oil pan on full right turn. its a milodon deep sump pan. before I cut the adjusting sleeves, is there a shorter sleeve available?

Do the rod ends meet inside the sleeve? If not, maybe you just have rust built-up inside the sleeves. I sprayed some PB Blaster inside the sleeves and worked through the rust enough to get my toe-in set.

If none turn up, I will dig out my first-generation ones, and re-taper them for you.

I had to shorten my tie rods about 3/16 in. (total on each side) didn't need to do anything with the sleeves.

I've found somebody parting out a 64 comet and a 65 ranchero I'll have to find out if either one of those has the right spindles and if he's asking a reasonable price.

On a side note I ordered a couple of new "ranchero" quarter panels for my wagon. They match fairly well.
