Mine work fine, no issues, same as all my autometers and SW I have used, and I will use them again if the application fits. For those who are really concerned what other people think you can get their "shark" line of gauges so you can feel tougher!
Had a 52 chevy truck a few years back, friend owed me money and gave me the project for a payoff. It came with a set of dolphin guages so I just installed and ran them. they worked fine for the short time I had the truck. But if I had to buy any I would go with Cl***ic or SW. My .02
Honestly, this thread is very timely - It's winter, so I think about the next year's work on my '51 chevy. I do NOT like any of the aftermarket gauges out there. They either don't fit, are of poor quality, or are stupidly expensive. I like the look of new Dakota Digital VXH series, but they're WAY too pricey. So... bring on the alternatives.
Dakota Digital? On the HAMB? Seriously? Cl***ic instruments; first-cl*** products, first-cl*** customer service, first-cl*** technical advice, 10% Alliance member discount………. No-brainer. Paul
DD... yes, the new ****og sweep gauges are actually nice. Not the 7 segment blue led **** they've been selling for years...ugh. Cl***ic Instruments... will have to have a look.
Got a new set in the box with a car I bought but I will not install gauges with a &*^% fish on them. Gonna put them on CL someday. Take a look at TPIGauges if Dolphin is your desired price range. Seem to be a bit nicer. NewVintageUSA has some nice looking packages and they are an Alliance Vendor: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=522099&highlight=newvintageusa Lots of styles with Cl***ic and Haneline but more pricey.
Not into the TPIGauge look- but i'm diggin' the NewVintage set: That's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks!
For me, when it comes to guages, nothing beats stock. In a hot rod, when using an alternative to a guage cluster out of another pre 60s car, I think Stewart Warners are the only other way to go. Guages and steering wheels can EASILY kill the look and vibe of a car.
After all is said and done im gonin with the Vintage I like the look and if they are on HAMB they got to be good. Thanks cause I would not have even looked at them.
I have them in my p/u and they seem pretty good, not too accurate but the electronic speedometer can be easily calibrated. I made them an offer of $135 shipped for five electronic gauges with speedo sender and they accepted. Great buy
That is sometimes true but the stock oil pressure gauge for my truck only goes to something like 30 lbs and the stock speedometer only reads 80. Not really what I want in a Custom hot rod truck. Plus my whole dash is getting changed so the stock gauges won't fit anyhow. I do agree with you in that the gauges no matter what brand need to look like they belong in the dash and a lot of thought needs to be put into what a guy uses rather than just what he can get the best deal on at the time. It's amazing that the same guy who will spend two weeks deciding on the perfect air cleaner or breather cap for his engine will spend 30 minutes looking for the best "deal" on a set of gauges before buying them. To me one of the best things about going to a Goodguys event is the Vendors building where you can walk back and forth and compare the actual gauges or other pieces right there and not have to rely on what they look like on the computer screen or in print. Plus you have to look at them every time you drive the vehicle for as long as you own it so they had better be right from the get go.
You got a stock number or some way to order these?? I can't find them on the website. These are what I been looking for!!!
