I watched "Big" make a pass with the old Swamp Rat at Bristol in the 80's with my Dad. I've been to the museum twice in the last few years, always awesome. Prayers sent.
Heard about this on nitromater.com and was shocked. Prayers going out for both Mr and Mrs Garlits. These people have had a positive affect on all of our lives, whether we realize it or not.
My thoughts will be with Don and Pat. We've crossed paths on more than one occasion, just recently while attending the Winternationals in Pomona, as a crew member. We were in the staging lanes, getting ready to run Comp Eliminator (that's us in the orange car) when Garlits was getting into his old Wynn's front motored car. Here are a few pictures I shot.
Best wishes to all of the Garlits family. Didn't get to meet Don's father, but Don, Pat and Don's mother, all great Americans.
Our prayers out to you and your wife Don!!! You're a legend and we need legends like you now more than ever before to keep the sport alive.
He's been my hero since I was 11 years old when I built my first model kit.. And read his book "King of the Dragsters" in Jr. high... That book was in the school library... GOD BLESS the both of you and hope you make a speedy recovery....
God bless Don and Pat. One of the nicest guys in hot rodding and a true American icon! Prayers from NH to the family.
Healing thoughts from the Omaha area from a fan that rates the Garlits family #1. Call on that determination that has propelled you thru a wonderful strong accomplishment list in the past. With you all the way! ~sololobo~
I got to shake the hand of the man in Indy this year. Praying for Big and Miss Pat and their daughters. Heros and Icons.
I read that book in school too, I used to take it out all the time. Definitely something that changed my life, I'd like to find a copy. I can still remember some of it word for word. Best wishes to the Garlits family for the best recovery possible! Bob
