Ok, here's a long shot. About a year ago, there was a video posted on Youtube of a 33 Willys pickup (36 with a 33 nose). The guy had just gotten it running, and according to the text, his daughter shot some rather poor quality video of it pulling out of the garage and doing a burn out in the street. This thing was bad*** all the way. It wasn't painted yet, and in either dark gray or flat black primer. It had a blown, alcohol injected Chrysler hemi, Halibrand spindle mounts on the front, and big Goodyear slicks on the back, with 16x13 Halibrands. It was a pure drag race vehicle, with an all round tube ch***is, but had an old school blown g***er look with the Hals and early hemi. Then in February this past year, I happened to look for it again on Youtube, and there was some text added that the owner had taken it to the track for testing, and if I recall, blew the engine, oiled the tires, and totaled the truck. You could tell from the tone of the text, that the owner was devastated, and rightfully so. I went back on Youtube the next day, and the original video had been pulled, and I've never seen or heard anything of this truck since. I tried contacting the owner through Youtube, but he never responded. So, I'm hoping someone here on the HAMB will recognize this, and maybe even have some pics of the truck. It was truly bad*** to say the least. Thanks, Mark
Doesn't ring a bell with me, but perhaps the "swing shift" will recollect this wondrous tale of triumph and tragedy dj
I went through my pics at home, and remembered I had this one pic that I believe was the ch***is to this mystery Willys. The pic is ***led "Dunham11", but I can't remember where I got it. I know Don Dunham owned the ex Brasher & ***mings 33 Willys before it was sold to Jim Tipper, but I've never been able to confirm who owned the ch***is in this pic, or if it was for the pickup. It sure looks like it though. Anyone have anything to add? Anyone know Don Dunham to ask and confirm? Thanks
Well, after some more research I'm pretty sure it's Don Dunham that owned the truck, but I've been striking out on finding contact info for him. Back in the early to mid 80's, when he owned the ex BC car, he was from San Jose, CA. Anybody know how to reach him?
Well, I guess sometimes, a little persaverance (actually a lot) pays off. After searching for numerous clues, and one clue leading to another, I found these shots on another forum. It's the truck, but I still haven't found a way contact Don Dunham. This thing is bad***. Too bad it crashed.
Still trying to get in touch with him. I've tried a few leads, but nothing yet. Anybody know how to contact him?
