  3. Hi Phil ;-)
I came to the board many times as a visitor for the past 2 years why register if I get my answers by googling and I end up at this place, right? I register to see if anyone else had dealings with him in general and what was, 'expected' of Don the master himself.....I can accept the fact if he said hey yeah give me 6 months Im backlogged by some racers right now instead, '3 weeks'!!!!!! I wont write it off and, 'YES' you guys are correct a masterpiece does take his time, but sometime the person who employs the master has to bust his chops to get it done. Just like any artist in past such as Micheal people who employed him had to bust his chops to finish because he wouldn't want to do the work in general.....

I was able to facebook his son who runs that page 4 weeks ago and he said himself that it was, 'odd' that his dad was taking so long he was gonna investigate that weekend and respond back, but he did not. I also called Don 4 weeks ago and he didn't answer until 2 weeks ago when he said he had all the pieces and is ready for ***embling.

Oh by the way im, 'John' and im just waiting impatiently for a 871 blower from Don the master Hampton :)

  4. Just reporting back.....I stopped calling him for 2 months figure he needed a break from me, lol.....called him last week and asked him if the blower was done we been talking since March. Long story short he said he can have one done for me this week and can ship it out....I said I will drive there and visit.

Meeting Don was a great pleasure the man is AWESOME!!! You wouldn't have figured this was the same man on the phone vs meeting him in person. I talked to his, 'muscle' man of the shop Allen and he was a pleasure also. The wait was worth it to meet Don himself and shake his hand and know he built my blower for me. Granted Allen said he built it the night before, lol....so this could of been done months ago. He even had my manifold completed on the shelf just needed some polishing.

Most peopled don't report back, but just wanted to say man all the heartache was worth it meeting Don and him handing me the blower cant stress enough how great it was to meet him and see my blower.

Thanks for the update. Good ending, I guess. Still, I wonder how long you'd be waiting if you hadn't said you would come and get it. Good craftsmanship, nice personality, bad business. Caveat emptor.

I wonder how many/if any of the guys on this thread remember Hot Rod magazines street blower dyno shoot-out from the late seventies/early eighties, and Hamptons performance in that deal...

John (1968dodgecharger), I owe you an apology. I ***umed you were just looking for a place to vent and never would come back again. I am happy you got your stuff and tip my hat to ya. You showed more patience than most and came back to report. Have a Merry Christmas my friend, from the "(cynical *******)" Phil

  10. Thx guys I realized something now about Don. I think he thinks when people call that they don't have any money and they plan to put a, 'down payment' down and pay it when they have the money and he will build it once they call and say they have the money. I was opposite I had my money all prepped he just said send 500 dollars when I had all the cash in hand already.

Also his blowers are so well worth it you get so much more for example his rotors are hard anodized and inside the cse you can see this. BDS wanted an extra 1500 for the blower alone for the internals and rotors to be hard anodized. In comparison to other blower makers Hamptons regular blowers are equivalent to a BDS stage 3 setup with Teflon, hard anodized, etc...my blower was 2200 dollars BDS wanted 3800 or so.

Wraymen no apology needed we are all in this hobby for our cars.

    Jeff thanks for feedback.....

falcon George I believe Hampton won that blow out I remember pioneering some different lobe angles back in the heyday (reading about it didn't experience it).

    Merry Christmas to all....

So all this could have been avoided by better communication.

Don: I have blowers in stock ready to build, when do you want me to start? It will cost Y and take X time to delivery. ( Are you ordering or merely inquiring?)

Customer: I would like to know the cost and delivery time if I order a blower from you OR I want you to build me a blower. How long to delivery? How do you want me to pay you?

Pretty simple in the end, although it still doesn't justify the lack of communication. I am glad you got your blower and are very pleased with it. Merry Christmas.

It wasn't just that he won it, it was the way he won. Crews from BDS, Mike Kuhl, Gary Dyer and Weiand were all there. Hampton pulls up, by himself in his wifes T bucket, pulls the blower off in the parking lot (it was one of his tw0-lobe rotor ones) bolts the blower off the T-bucket onto the dyno motor, records the highest power reading and the lowest intake temps,(they were restricted to 10 psi, IIRC) pulls the blower back off the dyno motor, bolts it back on to the t-bucket, jumps in the car and leaves. King of cool.

  14. WOW!!!!!! just WOW.......now that's is just way to cool that's, 'BOSS' thanks for sharing that story. I saw one of the 2 lobes he showed it to me. His muscle man told me if you want to get serious you get these 2 lobes and a black anodized case for the streets, lol......

I would like to read that story in that magazine for darn sure.....im gonna try to google it.

I would hope that if your deadline isn't met, then you can get your deposit back. Only a Q- did you use pay-pal,or a CC?
Seems to be the norm now a days when $ is upfront, and then the wait.......which ****s because they have your coin.
I hope either it's ready (not being a smart ***), but if it was, you'de be notified (like before your post here), or you might get lip service as the previous post's......
Been in those shoe's before, got the shirt, bear the scars..... ****s=Period. A man's word isn't what it used to be,especially with some businesses.........
Hope it turns out in your favor either way.
    Happy Holidays........Kid

My dad, a great businessman always taught me that people come to you because of what you have done in the past, but you are only as good as the next customer who comes through your door. It really doesn't matter what someone did 20 years ago if we are dealing with the here and now. What's happening now doesn't read too well. What's the other side of the story here?

  20. I say thats the way to deal with it.....tell him straight I need it, 'NOW' and see what he saids. He literally build mine the night before pick up his muscle man of the shop even told me. I hope you get yours like I said in previous post the blower is worth the money vs others out there. Just that wait...

  21. I agree, but its weird like I said in previous posts. You don't stay in business either by doing bad business......so its hard to say whats going on his end. I know he caters to racers and im sure he has probably 100 plus standard customers to build blowers for each other to rebuild that's probably his main group who knows.

I did receive my supercharger. It took some phone calls but I got it.The craftsmen ship is good. I didn't like the lack of communication.Without busting Dons balls to much...He did deliver a nice product but customer relations need some work.In all fairness I need to respond to this thread after all it can affect someone elses life.... 12486068_10153882143711804_912800762244145611_o.jpg

Been reading these threads and still haven't seen a problem. Been thinking of going with a Hampton, because so far he's been sort of the cheapest. And now I hear of the hard anodizing the innards? Now I know he's the cheapest. And a 50 year rep? How can that be beat?

  27. slowly, but surely...installing one sure takes time man...
