Joey gets likes for changing an oil pan and you think you're going to bore us? ;)

I spy unboxed rails. Bet you could author a How-to with tips you have learned.
I spy a rear window that goes down and back,
    [IMG]
and a bulkhead that leans forward at the bottom in roughly the same space?
    How'd ya do it?

So, this one single picture has been my last month or so. Still have to block sand the primer, but all the heavy lifting is done. Body work sucks, I hate it.

    cad344-21-24-2.jpg

On a brighter note, the chrome showed up. This car is a beater, but I am a sucker for chrome window frames. Now I have these beautiful window frames on kind of a piece of shit car... S and H Chrome, Madison Tennessee.

    cad344-21-24-1.jpg

Now, the chassis comes apart for finish welding and paint. The engine is at the machine shop, Ross is almost done with my pistons. My upholstery guy has my seat. The car is completely disassembled, but it is kind of on the down hill slide, might even have this heap running before the end of summer.

    See ya, -Abone.

I'd take that beater POS car any day when you get tired of it.

1959 pixels up-loaded, my (deceased) brother Walt's '34. The next day would have a 331 Cadillac installed... followed by all the original sheet metal. I did a lot of the ass'y, prior to Walt driving this hot-rod to Langley Air Force Base. All speed equipment, 2-4 barrel intake and adaptor was purchased from Honest Charley Chattanooga, Tn. Going to be fun to see how long it takes those nice, beautiful, shiny, newly chromed, window frames to guilt-trip you into a deep dark black w/flames paintjob. :D .
So far, nice work. :) .

Sure is a lot of crap on a frame...

    cad344-25-1.jpg

Back to the bare frame. Seems like we have been here before.

Some have wondered why I didn't box the frame before made the crossmembers. Well, I like to make all my crossmembers and bracketry weld to the inside C channel, then go back and box it so everything is welded to the boxing plate also. Definitely more time consuming and most likely not necessary, but it is the way I like to do it.

    cad345-19-24-1.jpg

Painted some miscellaneous stuff shiny black.

    cad345-19-24-2.jpg

    Including the rear end.

    cad345-19-24-3.jpg

    And the dash.

    cad345-19-24-4.jpg

The frame is satin chassis black.

    cad345-19-24-5.jpg

Old firewall was big on geometry.

    cad3412-10-1.jpg

New one not as much. I dig the race car style firewall gauges on my stock ass motor non race car firewall.

    cad345-19-24-6.jpg

I'm still in piston jail, so I have plenty of time to assemble the chassis and paint the body. See you next time.

    Brakes are not very exciting.

    cad346-14-1.jpg

    Chassis not very exciting.

    cad346-14-2.jpg

Carburetors are kind of exciting. Charlie Price hooked me up.

    cad346-14-3.jpg

If all goes well, I should be painting the body this weekend.

    See ya, -Abone.

Fresh report from the famous FlamedAbone Color Application Studio. The car is finally a color. Its...its...

    Dark grey primer.
    cad346-16-1.jpg

Its not black, I swear. It will flatten out a bit as it dries and it is very grey in better light.

    And, the dash is done.

    cad346-16-2.jpg

Still in piston jail, but there should be enough to keep me busy until they show up.

    See ya, -Abone.

Until the brake pedal goes to the floor, then it is all kinds of exciting!

Now to start sticking this little car back together.

    cad346-23-24-1.jpg

    Danger is my business.

    cad346-23-24-2.jpg

    Almost there....

    cad346-23-24-3.jpg

And, down. I have only dropped one '34 Ford in my time, didn't want to do it again.

    cad346-23-24-4.jpg

    Decklid still fits.

    cad346-23-24-5.jpg

Here she sits, still in piston jail. I have some more busy work to do but this whole piston thing is kinda holding up progress.

Where did you get those valve covers ? I don't remember seeing any like them before. Really enjoying your talent and sharing it with everyone.

Thanks for the kind words. The valve covers are Moons, I found them on a random internet search. A "street rod" shop in Florida had a pair on the shelf for like 350 bucks. I don't think Moon is currently making them.

After a long list of mother f-ing window regulators, the glass templates are done. Not only do they roll down...

    cad347-7-24-1.jpg

    They also roll back up.

    cad347-7-24-2.jpg

Here is the whole set, ready for the glass dude.

    cad347-7-24-3.jpg

And, I finally got the roof insert finished.

    cad347-7-24-4.jpg

    cad347-7-24-5.jpg

My pistons showed up, so I am no longer in piston jail, but I'm now in machine shop jail. Step forward for sure.

Congrats on your freedom and progress on the glass :)

  29. Looking good with soon to be real glass windows, and also being painted.

  30. I'm a bit concerned about the blind spots you're going to have while going down the road... :D
