    Now THAT's funny !! :) :) :) :)
As my old shop teach used ta preach-"A place for everything, everything in its place." No question some redeck-y stuff is good, VERY good. Not saying my car be ugly with straight-out-the-back tailpipes but IMO it'd be like seein' Rosie O'YouKnowWho wearin' a pair of Daisy Dukes..
    Sorry, just not my style

Well, bubba, there's really not much variation that would be authentic and not come out the rear.

There's your end-at-the-muffler-under-the-car style, your run-it-out-the-side style and your ever-popular lakes pipes style. Most cars, especially those owned by 'teens back in the day (my day, by the way) were run out the back using factory exhaust pipes. The tips varied, but the pipes were pretty much standard.

There's one well-known car that was very different, however, the Pete Angress Victoria. There were custom muffler shops in California who could bend up custom pipes - unlike the rest of the country - and Pete designed his own outlet setup. See attached photo.

Still a little redneck-y, but not near as bad as your Rosie-in-Daisy-Dukes pichur, though...

    Hope this helps!

Now those pipes look good on that custom car, they go with the overall style. And yes I like the Lakes too. What I have in mind is a bit more subdued, kind of like what's on my '87 TurboCoupe:

Perhaps tucked up a little tighter under the Fairlane so they're barely seen, but this is the general idea. Seems I used to see kids around here (southern Michigan) running them either like that, or just in front of the rear tires on each side.

I'm thinking no chrome tips - the Victoria has plenty of its own bling already.

Thanks for the tips, I'll post more pics as the project progresses.

On Fords, I kind of prefer the exhaust to be near the center of the bumper, about a license plate and a half distance apart. Atleast, thats how I did mine.

Anyway, I'm just a kid trying to build a custom car, with tons of friends helping me out. I guess Im not really a kid anymore, but I was a few months ago. My car will be finished like a nice daily-driven semi custom. Like a High school kid/grad would drive.

hey gang! I have a 53 ford I have been working on this since about oct 2007. I like the customlines. Like above said "everyone has a 49 to 51 shoebox." I have always been one to be on the far end of things. I found my car on craigslist, went to look at it. Now get this, the guy I bought it from works for the pit crew on NHRA dragsters. He would rebuild the lower end of the car. The car did not run at the time and I asked him and he didnt even know why? I would want him working on my dragster!!!! I got the car home and checked everything out. Come to find out the last 2 pushrods near the back of the motor were bent. So I got some pushrods and put them in readjusted the valves and voila. Did a poker run 89 miles that saturday what an awesome car. I love Kustoms especially the customlines. I painted mine p***ion purple pearl HRF, Inline 6, dual exhaust, shaved door handles, shaved emblems, 53 hudson taillights, kustom side mirror. My plans are to lower the suno***un and drive it as I work on it. Glad to meet some likeminded fellows here! CHEERS!

    Hey Guys,
I'm new to the group but have been on the HAMB about 3 years now.
My first car (in 1963) was '52 Crestline Victoria, nosed and decked, whitewalls, black rims and short lakes. I loved that car. Some really small pictures in my albums.
While browsing the HAMB cl***ifeds I came across a rough '52 Ranchwagon local. Pretty much bought it in spite of the condition. Just trying to see what it needs (everything) and start gathering parts. I need to finish My F-1 project and My wife's Grandfathers 59 Galaxy before I can get too serious about it. I've been looking over Hotrodprimers wagon project for inspiration.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's progress.
    Thanks
