Thanks for the update Nate. I am praying for all involved, specifically for healing, but also for strength and courage for all of your family as you walk through the many difficult days you are facing. I am praying that you all will have peace and rest in the midst of this.
I'm not a religious man, but I'll be sending positive thoughts your way. Glad to hear he's stabilised, let's just keep praying and being positive.
I'm reading through this thread and thinking the same thing. It's about time somebody said something! Surprised nobody else has anything similar to say. I don't drink because, to be honest, beer tastes like piss to me. I really don't get the fascination that so many have for the stuff and why some folks can't seem to do anything without it. Just last week there was a thread on here about sneaking beer into the Moon Christmas party to avoid buying their's. Why can't you just enjoy the day sober? I too have been to many car shows and have seen the coolers open at 9:00 am and the drinking doesn't stop until 2 or 3 in the afternoon and then these idiots get in their overpowered cars and drive home! Am I talking about you? Like someone else posted, there are lots of threads on here about drunk drivers and lots of sympathy everytime something like this happens. And then some of you go right out there and do it too! The only word that comes to mind is hypocrite. Rant mode off.
Prayers for your people, try to stay positive thru the storm. This is all to familiar to most of us, untill they start treating dui-dwi with a much more serious penalty it will continue. As I am sending this response, the local news is reporting a 20 yr old man, just back from the ***inine Iraq war being killed as a p***enger with a drunk driver. We all need to work on designated drivers, etc., when drinking. The condition update is promising, please keep us posted. Best Regards, Sololobo
Prayers from Arkansas. I hope he has a full recovery. Getting well comes first. I was been there myself back in 2000, hit by a drunk. I learned a few things about dealing with the financial wreck which comes next. You may want to look into having his health insurance abrogate the hospital expenses. This keeps away the stress from getting a flood of bills when he's just trying to get well. Don't sign anything until you're sure that its what you want to do. No need to be in a rush to settle. I discovered new problems a long time after I thought I was well. Bad hearing in my left ear, a fracture requiring a bone graft in my face, an ankle that predicts the weather. I can get lost in a closet, no sense of direction. It takes years for all the secondary problems to show up. So don't hesitate to ask for a high settlement or judgement. The guy that hit me was a 40 year old alcoholic with no ***ets. Would have loved to sue him, but why? Arkansas is deadbeat heaven; wouldn't ever get a dime out of him. Lawyers get a third of the settlement so I didn't use a lawyer. Not saying not to use a lawyer. Usually you should. But find out the situation first. A half million dollar judgement justn't mean squat if you're getting it ten dollars a week forever. Just saying there's no rush to retain a lawyer either. Again my best wishes for recovery.
