Ha! you're correct! I did read that wrong...... I was also going by what others had said how much hardener they had mixed in. This is one of the reasons why I want to practice with inexpensive materials. my mistakes cost me much less!

the front forks did come out much better after I stripped them down to bare metal and cleaned them with thinner. turns out the problem is that there were some pits in the forks that are small and fairly deep that were causing issues. I should have blasted them but a good scrubbing got them MUCH better. I have a couple very small fish eyes this time, good enough that I will leave it for this project.

I started putting the bike back together after I sprayed the forks. starting to look pretty good! I'll have to get some new pics of it when it looks like something

Over 30 years ago when I started striping and lettering I used Rustoleum becouse it was the only thing I could get my hands on. I still use it today if I run out of 1-Shot or Ronan sign paint. I've got a couple signs that were completly done in Rustoleum that have been hanging outside for the last 10 years and still look great! Thanks for the tips on adding hardner, I'll have to try that. It does have a long drying time without it!

I love Rustoleum, and it's made right here in Kenosha Wisconsin!!!:)

  3. Pitting. Forks are notorious for that.
    Makes sense.

Honestly, I have used Rustolium with Valspar hardener and without, I can't tell the difference.

I have left some ACTIVATED Rustolium in a closed mixing cup, and it NEVER got hard for the few to several weeks I kept it around just to see if it would EVER kick, it didn't.

From what I have seen, Valspar hardener in Rustolium doesn't do shit... Don't believe me? try it for yourself.....

I just moved on to second practice project today. sprayed a pedal car for my son. had a couple viscosity checks... but looking ok. I'll grab a picture of it shortly
