  2. Am I supposed to have one? Conversation piece. Old Chevys ran with the whole valve train completely exposed.

  3. I have a 1919 Oakland with exposed valve train like that. The owners manual tells you to lubricate it every 30 miles. It also tells you the motor will have to be rebuilt in a couple thousand miles.

I just saw one of those sell at an auction last weekend. It had a tin valve cover that didn't really seal on the bottom. And your exhaust is on backwards.

  5. Could that be why it won't start?

Those rockers might work on a 331 Cad

There were quite a number of engines built with exposed overhead valve train back then. You see them in coverage of the antique vehicle races from the UK quiet often.

NO. There was a stamped tin cover that covered the rockers.

Looks like There's a fist pumping going on by a flip of the exhaust...to the Ford behind it with shotguns formed along the wave of the body...it was 1919...;)

  12. I just to a look at an old Hollander Interchange Manual and it seems, if I am reading this correctly, that valve covers from a pre-53 Ford will fit with some slight adjustment.
