OK, so I always get the Goodguys whiners on here when I mention Goodguys. Greedy, all about the money, blah blah blah.

Well here's something truly FREE from Goodguys...the Gazette in digital form. Complete, just the way it gets shipped in print and you can check it out every month. No catch, no cost.

How was that for pimping Goodguys? Now, the haters can actually speak intelligently about Goodguys because they can see the magazine me, Brandon (Hemi on the HAMB), the design department and others like Sam Strube (SamIyam), Roger Jetter (40StudeDude) and John Jackson (NonStock Photography) put together every month.

Most importantly I hope you guys who don't already get the Gazette, dig it. Personally I don't think the printed page can be beat, but this is a close second

Members, don't despair, the guys getting the free version don't get the printed version nor the batch of discounts you guys get.

Also, this is not a Goodguys sanctioned post. In fact, they don't know I'm posting this. I just personally thought you guys would dig it. Officially, Goodguys hasn't even started telling the world yet.

Go HERE to check it out!

The current issue features the whole Rodfather Tour, the Hot Rod of The Year (with HAMBers cars as finalists), Indy and Texas!

Not only that, but they can read my column: "Bangin' the Gears" and a column from another HAMBer-Sam Strube (but I can't remember his "name" here...something about a 'roach'...

  7. True Story
    I'm more of a ignorer
early 90's Salem Or. (they should have used Portland) I went to the Goodguys. was told that if I spent the cash to join I could get in the gate cheaper (no deal there) but I would recieve the Gazette. now it was possibly worth the added expense.. I never recieved the Gasette and everytime I called the home office I was told I had to talk to the person that handled that. oh and he/she was off today, call back. the next year at Salem I told the person at the gate my story. Sorry but you need to see He/she again and they would be there tomorrow. but I would have to re-up to get in the gate with the member discount. I left and came back as a spectator the next day and no one knew how to find he/she (it was a very small show)
I've never been back or read the Gazette again

  8. Kirk,
Thanks for the mag, I used to read it when I still got it in paper. While I prefer paper electronic will not keep me from reading it.

Good Guys is a bussiness and I think that everyone needs to make a living. Some are better at it than others, I fall into the others catagory I am afraid so having the magazine in "free" is a plus for me. ;)

  9. Thank you Kirk. I appreciate it(and you and the rest of the fella's) and will look at it. Personally I like the Goodguys organization. It has been good for the hobby. I too get tired of the whiners. If you don't wanna pay the prices don't go. Nothing wrong with capitalism. It's the American way. Again, Thank you!

OK, now that sucks, but that was a LONG time ago and hopefully we're far better organized nowadays.

  11. thanks I know you personally work hard, I will never find out if you got better or not.
I just can't understand why someone would pay to get their car in a gate so spectators can pay to look at them

I get that thought, but maybe look at it his way. You are also getting to be a spectator. It's actually cheaper to register for the weekend than it is to spectate for the weekend.

I think Goodguys has a lot more of us fans around here that kinda keep quiet, if we don't have something of substance to say, we just "lurk". Glad you are back on here once in a while. I'm also a big fan of getting the new Gazette each month in the mail.

Thanks, Kirk. I'll check it out. For what it's worth, I'm not the biggest fan of the GG events, but there is no denying they put on a great show, even if it's not for me.No matter what anyone thinks of the organization or their shows, the Gazette has always been one of the best hot rod/custom periodicals out there in my opinion.

  21. Thank you Kirk,,I have probably been rated as a Goodguys hater because of a response that I didn't like the idea of throwing open the gates to anything on Sundays,,I still don't care for it but I don't run the show.

I am however a Goodguys Member and plan on staying one.

I was lucky enough to win one of the prizes at the Charlotte,N.C. event in October of 2012 but haven't received it yet. HRP

Not liking something real is great. Specific feedback actually helps. It's the guys that are just negative, without specifics that are the problem. No one can expect everyone to like everything.

Who is the prize from? I can look into it.

Hi Kirk....I like GG's and go to Des Moines and Kansas Speedway every year (almost). I see that Kansas Speedway has been dropped. Whats the deal, I'm going to miss it.

You could say that the speedway made us a deal we had to refuse. It was not our choice. We're looking for another location near by.

Not bad so far.........only a couple of quasi whiners.
You're doing a terrific job Kirk. Keep it up. The Columbus Nationals is the best show in North American, hands-down. I look forward to the Gazette every month

Every year I renew my Gazette subscription and when they went digital they send an E-mail telling you the electronic version is available. One nice thing is you can download the pics from the online version, I'm not sure if you can using the free link or if you need the password from the E-mail. Either way my copy of the Gazette is in the rack by the toilet and it gets read a little every day.

So the Gazette is only 10 pages? Is it a restricted version for non-members?

For the record, I don't really care either way.If you guys are gonna try and entice people to join GG, then here are a few points. The bulk of the free Gazette that I tried to access , which was 10 pages and most were credit pages, adds and members letters. Along with an annoying pop up, after 2 pages, trying to get me to join.

Just some constructive criticism. Not a hater here.
