Thanks. Jame's (checkoutmyink.com) is the owner. I'm only responsible for the suspension on this one...

I like 'em just as they were made from the factory.
The coupe is my all-time favorite production car ever made.
Restored my 48 in 2007 with a souped 261 and 3.55 rear gears.
All else original, including vacuum shift.
I added a wood panel interior, matching the original woodgrained dash and window frames.
My dogs and I drive in it almost every day, alternating with my 52 truck which I had for over 14 years now.
    Never owned any other rides.

This is great guys I knew there had to be some of us out there. I've been collecting pictures of them from the internet and shows for sometime. This is what i working towards. I've been leaning toward a maroon or luxury blue (Harley/Davidson color)
I've been thinking about artillery wheels either powder coated or the all chrome version.

Guys I've been trying to find chrome headlight bezels and door sill plates (or ones that fit). I think Chevy of the 40's carried newer ones. I figure its easier to find them then send some to the rechromer....wait wheres that Hamber with the spray on chrome.

    some movie cars.

I like the hood design similar to period Buick. Whats the speedo out of it looks familar, a truck?

I came across a custom builder on a chevy forumn that had a console that looked very custom, as it turned out it was fabbed from a 04 Chrysler. The fit looked like it was made for the car. My dash is staying original with a few updates electrically. I have some almost NOS gauges. I found NOS electric tri-5 vent crankers and matched them up to factory replacement direct bolt in power windows. The interior is probably newer for some tastes here but I like it and I plan to drive my car a lot. We have made it a better car with all the metal work and its tighter.

Has anyone C Notched a frame? I was considering a mild one,, as my 10 bolt hits the floor when I hit bumps and potholes on the road.
Here's a few more pics,,two are when I cut 12 or so inches out of those pontoon fender extensions. Now they look a little more 1942-ish & also dropped the hoods nose about 5 inches.

I've started a 46 coupe about a year ago. Max & Steve at BioKustumz, built a frame for me, and then did most of the body work that I planed to change, my 36 ford took me longer to complete, so I had work done that normally I would have done. But I'm on it now

Hi Guys. Enjoying this thread. Enjoy seeing all your cars. Gives me inspiration to put mine together.

    PRO 48 fleetline...smoothed your engine too?...ooooooooohhh!!!

Road Runner...really nice stocker! It's easy on the eyes...just nice. Your two oldies are your daily-drivers? Coooool. Love it.

brownsmetal...your chopped coupe looks awesome. When they're chopped and lowered as nicely as yours is, they go from "potatoe" to "torpedo"!!! LOL!

historynw...on the other hand...that woodie is beeeeeeeeutiful!!!

Chop, no chop...chop, no chop...?????????????? :) - Rick

I spent almost a year tracking down the guy who has the jigs to make the country club kit. Its reasonable for the look, I could never afford a real woodie wagon. Mostly it was a dealer installed option from Chevy to keep up with the Ford. Besides I can use "Pledge" to do some of the car. I wanted something different that no one else had or has seen near me.:)

    I agree!
The gauge cluster in my 48 is out of a 57 chevy truck and im designing a new gauge face for it im incorporating a auto meter monster tach with shift light into the cluster but redesing the gauge face so the tach will appear like a speedo but really be just a tach and tach only no speedo with an older look to it so it still looks vintage.

And my rear back half is like a big C notch lol the rails from the front of the rear tires back are square tube. front suspension is AMC pacer sweet set up has a nice rack and disc brakes and nice sway bar and welds easly into place under those stock frame rails.

Theres a ton of subtle mods i did on the car and through out the entire car thus is why its been in metal mock up for 3 years lol.
I built a ram air ducted from a scoop i built behind the grille shoots up through the original access hole in rad suppot and fabbed a tri five style bird from sheet metal and shoots the fresh air directly into the air cleaner.

Heres a few shots of the simple stuff that i worked so hard to not see!
like smoothing inner fenderwells with no visible bolts.
drop mount same no bolts all hidden, also made a scoop on the bottom of the front valance i built too scoop fresh air into the rad.
and a flip up rear plate to clean the look of the rear of the car up when showing it!

I don't know where they got that 3,765 lbs. for the 69 Z-28. A 69 Yenko camero with a 427 big block only weighed 3,500. Redo your math. LOL..:D

Scales don't lie. Just "because they look fat" doesn't mean that they are necessarily heavy.

http://www.1948chevy.com/support/48pg14.htm Shows the curb weight of a 48 sports coupe to be 3150 lbs One of the Camaro forums puts 69 Camaro right at the same weight depending on equipment. http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38249

The 48 chev site was one that I haven't seen before http://www.1948chevy.com/index.htm

My wifes old 91 626 Mazda had an advertised weight that was within 200 lbs actual scale weight of my 71 GMC 3/4 ton.

    You can't always assume.

  29. Here are about the only pics I have left of my '48. I made a trade with a club member then he ended up selling it. I wonder where it is now?

I am glad to see a thread about the 46-48 chevys.I have a 47 fleetline I am in the process of changing up a little with the help of Cristian at the SHOP.I also have a 47 Pontiac that I think is a much nicer car with all the chrome and factory 5 lug open drive.I think I might look for a 47 Olds just to make a complete set.I have heard people complain about the body lines of these cars but I see allot of people spending countless hours trying to get the back of there car to slope like that.
