    Do you still have that title for sale? If so, how much? Also, does anyone have a frame laying around that they want to get rid of, I have a nice '46 fleetmaster 2-door body, I am looking for a frame to slide under it.

    Thanks, Brian

    Had to bring it back to the top guys. Been snowed in here in Iowa for a couple days and need some insperation for my 47. This thread has been awesome for getting ideas.

    What has everyone done for front and rear suspension. I'm thinking that the mustang 2 is the only way to go for the front, problem is that i don't have any experience with this type of swap:eek: Guess you have to learn sometime. Also I have a GM 10 bolt that I think will work for the rear. Does anybody know if the width will be too wide and how is the best way to mount it to keep it low? I would love to put bags in it but the budget won't allow that right now.

    I have a mid 80's Camaro sub with discs. Who ever welded it looks as though they did a good job. The rear is a 70 Nova 8.2. Drives out great considering I've kept it manual,,manual steering and brakes that is.

    Nowhere in the thread that you linked to, was there a single example of these failing. :rolleyes: These are more stable than any "real jackstand". They are not just stands, they also act as wheel chocks. It's almost impossible for a car to fall off them...unlike "real jackstands". Just didn't want a young builder viewing your post to think they weren't ok to use. ;)

    I used a Mustang II in my '47 but it's not the only way to go. I recently learned of some folk swapping out the '40s suspension for mid '50s suspension and the process is possibly a bolt-in method and may lower the car a bit. I not sure though but I'm still trying to get more info on the swap. Comparing the track mearsurement of that GM 10-bolt to that of the '47 should give you your answer on applicability. You may or may have to relocate the spring pads. There are a few build threads on HAMB with good pictures that will be helpful to you.

    Here's my '47 with the Fatman Mustang II in it. I put about 75K miles on it with many road trips from NC to MD before I sold it.

  12. What a killer thread, I agree these are some of the most overlooked breeds. The country club coupes, oh my! Two of my Roadburner brothers have 46-48's, a fleetline and a new build 48 coupe. I dig'em big time. I was cruzin thru the thread diggin on the pix, and, up pops that two tone green fleetline, !zing!, I was transported back to a Sunday party in east L.A. with my brown skin mexican homies, choppin fresh cilantro for the salsa and token on a giant spliff of kind. Whew, takin another trip and never leavin the farm. Lady D, nice to see yer old Chevy and B.O. in the primer, I thought the wood stands on the pro-street beast looked pretty stable! What the hell do I know. Thanx to all for the cool stuff!! Gotta get ready for church!! ~Sololobo~ ~Sololobo~ Hey is there an echo in here??

    They are cheap to get into also, as 1 to 4 usually pops up on craigslist here a month.

    Heres my 47 chopped 3.5", 472 Cadillac, turbo 400, 9" Bronco rear, Mustang II front end. These cars make excellent over the road cars. Lots of room for driver, passengers, not too much luggage room tho. Good thread.

    OK, neat thread! I'm seeing a lot more '46-'48s at the Turkey Run now than just 5 or 6 years ago. I think Pro 48's right about the roll pans, I've been pondering how to make one, I like his idea with the front bumper flipped and recessed but I've already put a rolled pan on the back. Anyway, here's mine:

    Wow thats a great find.

    Hey Fleetsidelarry I like the tri-power setup thats what i am shooting for.

  20. Has anyone seen a gasser version of these cars? I belive I never have and realize most are lowriders, kustoms and such which are wonderful but the '42 I am getting, my deceased childhood friend had it and his vision was a BBC/ 4 speed Gasser style, so in his memory I am looking at this style but have yet to see it done. So here on the worlds largest and best automotive website I ask you for pictures. Thanks.

    That car is killer! Best chop I've ever seen on that body style!!! Lots of other nice touches too. It looks like you "pie" cut the hood. Idid that on my '46, but I don't know if I'd have the gus to try that chop!!! Love the tripower and the fact that your M.C. is on the firewall, I don't like my under the floor M>C. on mine. Nice job!

    Yeah the top chop and pancaked hood flow really well, making for a good profile.

    Ive seen it all now wake and hop on the site to enjoy sharing build techiniques and the passion for 46-48 chevys to see that the moderaters had removed my posts posting "They try to focus on tadition"
    What i have to have a set of steel wheels and black primer theres cars here way less traditional then mine and i get the boot.
    Fuckkkkkkkk you you Fuck faces pretty shitty you cant enjoy sharing ideas and the love for cars regardless of styles and its a shame HAMB is sooo narrow minded and channeled on beat up peices of shit all the time.

    You didn't get the boot--you got "informed" regarding topic specifics. Well, re-reading your post again, I take back that first sentence.

  25. My 48 more door at the back to the 50's a couple years back;

    [IMG]

    It is in limbo now getting floors replaced, headlights & tail lights frenched, remaining handles shaved, back fenders molded to the body and removing the lower stainless.

    Always liked the look of the fenders being extended in the quote below....wonder how it would look on a 4 door?!!?

    My original 48 Fleetline, practicing on the 4 door before I dive into it;

    And my 3100, will be my all year round vehicle when done;

    Is that your yard or someone else's? If so, what's the deal with the '39-46 (?) Chevy truck next to the Nova?

  30. Thanks for the pics, it's hard to find these body car as anything other than customs and lowriders which are fine, but the gasser is too kool! I like the Drilled I-beam axle but don't know about the height. The stance is everything on these cars, thinking about 10 spoke fronts and "ET" style rears with whitewall slicks. Car will for sure be a 454 4speed circa early 70's style.
