Don't want this bit of DuVall genius lost in other stuff

George DuVall's personal ride in the early '30s just knocks me out! The Vee windshield and padded top are the big attention getters, but check out the valancing added to the fenders and the big plated discs covering the wheels? Is this a cool-looking Model A or what?!

To say nothing of the headlights, bumpers, grill shell, solid hood sides and glossy paint...[IMG]

Do you know is that car still in existence? It would be interesting to see it today if it is.

    Nice car, at first look you don't notice it's a '28 /'29.

  6. Thats more like an all out styling exersize. And I'd have to say it works for me.
And the top too, way cool. A almost didn't even recognize it as a model A. When you just glance at the front fenders and the style of the top it looks alot like a 36.

I love the roof line. Extending the W/S to the hood makes the cab seem so much larger.

I'm not up on all this but, wasn't most customizing from the 30's and 40's a way for people to take less $$ cars and make them apear to be like the more $$ cars of the day?

Not to change them for change sake but to make them appear coach built?

    Love the fenders!!

I love it. It goes from your average econo car of the day to looking like a small deusenberg or auburn. Everything went together real well IMO.

Neat car, thanks for posting the pic. Is the body lengthened behind the doors? The quarters look long to me.

It is also intersting to see a 28-29 roadster with a "DuVall" windshield. I always thought his first version of that was on a 36.

How weird, I just read the old American Rodder article about George DuVall over Christmas break when I found my old magazine collection. It was great - like having AV8 posts all the time!

  17. I can envision some LA movie star crusing the blvd in that thing picking up women... bitchen'!

    Thanks for sharing Mike!

  18. With the E&J style lites and skirting added around fenders the car resembles a 36 era custom........looks much larger and later styling......

Neat car but I cant stand those windshields, I think there as ugly as sin.

  20. That one is a severe angle ,as they go- most are more graceful and a less steep angle for sure....

That is EXACTLY the point of customising. Somewhere along the way it got lost a little and became customising for customising's sake. Not a good thing.

Great looking A, that's for sure. I, like everyone else didn't notice it was an early A until you mentioned it. Very clever.
