I've never removed door gl*** before without removing every last piece of the internals. Can I remove the gl*** out of the door channels without taking everything out? If so how? (Hammer or rock excluded)
It ends up being more of a struggle trying short cuts instead of dropping the roller ***embly to remove the gl***.To make things go easier to re***emble mark the positions of the screws before you remove them so alignment will stay the same.If you invest in the Ford Parts Manual it will be a big help http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=10633 and this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1952-1953-1...anuals_Literature&hash=item5d2c23239a&vxp=mtr you will find this is the best$$ you can spend on your '54 bar none as it saves you tons of guess work.
I got the parts manual from Jim, I was looking at it, but it doesn't give much more than a blown up diagram of whats there.. not how to take apart. I was going to try and dis***emble the guide rollers and try to slide the gl*** out that way, then I just have to do the reverse to put new gl*** back in. Wasn't sure I could do that, so I figured I'd ask someone on here.
Well after taking a nice long look at the inside of the window, I simply removed the retaining clips on the lower gl*** channel rollers, popped the rollers off, and was able to lift the gl*** and lower channel right out of the door. very easy! Now i just need to get some new gl*** and I will be happily in business! Thanks for the insight guys
