GOOD GAWD , HOW DO YOU CHANGE DOOR LATCH SPRINGS IN A 32 FORD LATCH? Is there a special tool, any insight would be helpful. What a bear to collapse, n get behind the slide.TIA

In the old days when you bought a new spring you got a new U shaped piece also. You cut that loose. Then the spring came loose. Guy on the Ford barn has springs may have the U shaped piece part. I bend the U ends up. Most time you can save one end. Change the spring add the U piece. Tack weld the U shaped part. Your done. So the spring lays flat and the U pins hold the spring. And buy more than you need in case. At the swap meet once I bought some springs the guy says you’ll need these U shaped parts. Springs are different colors. But I don’t remember what color goes where anymore. You may find worn stud and worn slide. Turn the stub half turn repair the slide. If latch is worn you can find other Ford latches that are the same. Drill the rivets change the latch align it and tack weld.
