I am working on a 1931 Chev 5 window coupe. I bought it in pieces as the previous owner did the dismantling then got overwhelmed by the project. I have the original doors but none of the door hardware. Has anyone found donor hardware that works well.
Bearclaw latches are not expensive and are a lot better than stock. I used them on my model A coupe and you can close the doors with one finger.
Go to hotrodlatches.com. Get American made not the cheaply made ones that pop open. He is a member here. CN
The Hot Rod latches in the link are Bear claw latches Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Hot Rod Latches is just my website name. Bear claw is just a name for the style of latch. Bear claw is also a registered name of that HAMB contemptible Hoffman Group company. OP sent me an email and I replied back. Thanks for the recommendations, been helping HAMBers out for 13 years now. Sent from my SM-A102U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Bear Claw latches are a trademarked name for the Hoffman group's latches. The latches www.hotrodlatches.com make and sell are much better quality then the Hoffman junk. None of the hot rod/bear claw style latches have a lock mechanism built into them (or the latches are so poor quality the locks available are worthless). If you want door locks with those latches, you either need to have locking door handles, or you need to add electric door poppers. The only other options are to find original OEM stuff (used or new old stock) for your ride, or modify an OEM latch from a different vehicle into your ride. I type too slow! Gene
