    I have this style door panel clips from the upholstery removed from my 1932 Ford.
    I made new panels and had them done in R&P. Now the original clips don't fit over the thicker panel. There are many wire clip options available by application, but panel thickness is not provided. Anyone got any help?

    I am not exactly sure what you have going on here, but I will have a go. These clips hold the door card to the door metal. The upholstery is glued to the door card. The clips, thus are unseen. The door card is made from thin, weatherproof material like fiber board, wood or plastics. Is that what you have going on?

    Exactly. It's the "C" shaped part of the clip that won't accommodate the panel thickness. Ron

    I did a few panel replacement ,over the years.
    Most were custom,none used factory standard clip. Except when trying to fix windows or latch/lock things in my every day driver.
    The fail of stock clips,was most often do to factory panel {some type of card stock,had got wet an was falling-a-part}

    I like using stainless decorative washers and phillp screws with a little dome {the small bit of dome make then shine extra}.
    Placing these in planel so they also match the placement of panel next to it. { Make things look planed vs just anyplace }.
    Other tips that maybe helpful,I posted in one of my "How I did it".

    There is supposed to be an elongated "D"shaped hole in the panel. The clip slips in the hole behind the upholstery and is unseen on the outside.

    Unless I’m missing something in your description, it shouldn’t matter what material is covering the board or card as some call it. There should be an oblong hole in the board and the clip should slide into that hole and rest at the end of the hole. Unless your panel board is just too thick and not allowing the clip to slide onto it, the thickness of your new material shouldn’t come into play. A picture of the back side of your panel would help.

    On the inside of the door card trim around the fabric if it's layered and too close to the hole. Hope fully you just traced of the old holes on your old door card.

    The original panel (card) is approximately .1060 the new panel is approximately .1180. I'm looking for a clip to fit the thicker panel size. Ron

    If you can wait a couple weeks and go to Carlisle or Hershey, Restoration Specialties is usually there. They should be able to help you out. Or you could call. 814-467-9842. They are usually good on the phone, but it is coming up on show season.

    Go to any autobody supply store. They all usually carry them and have cards with examples of all that is available.

    Stainless trim washer screws. Two should be plenty on sides since the window trim holds the top.The rubber weather strip on the bottom may require use four. Thicker panel may need the padding removed along the window trim.

    Check with a local paint & body supply house, in my area they carry they a huge supply of clips and accessories for different body types, the original '32 door clips I had kept were not big enough for the new door cards, the replacements look the same but were larger, if you go this way take one of yours for comparison. Same as the ones on our 56 Ford. 99% of all upholstery shops and suppliers can get them.

    ford used that style door panel clips for years in the 50s 60s 70s ebay has them for less than $1 each maybe you could slightly bend them to fit a thicker panel
