Thinking about making some new door panels for the '54... The rear door panels are original, but the fronts were made about 15 years ago and are attached to the door with screws instead of the factory clips. I don't like being able to see the screws and want to use clips this time around.

What I'm wondering is do I have to get factory clips? Can I use different ones if I'm making my own panels anyway? Are they all pretty much the same for old (40s-50s-60s) cars? I don't really want to spend more on OEM clips plus shipping from Mac's or whoever if I can just go to AutoZone or some other local place and buy them at my leisure.

The plan is to basically copy HRP's panels on his wagon, except in blue instead of green. Not sure what he used to hold his panels in place, but maybe he'll comment...

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
