I found this cool site today... How to make a b***. http://homepages.enterprise.net/gwyllum/b***/doubleb***making.html
seems like a real SUPREEM task. though making it yourself would probably insure better sound quality then the ****ty "cheap" one i got.
these pictures from the same guy that gave me a hard time for jumping on top of a Farfisa......... tell me about you're pickup/ mic setup - i'm thinking about gettin one. what do you play through?
the b*** player from Split Lip Rayfield plays an upright gas tank! and it sounds pretty good (for a gas tank)!
I have been thinking of building one for a while now... I tought my little sis to play (shes really good!) And I havent had my b*** back since! I even let her borrow my rig to anny the neighbors...
justinm, it's a K&K, works real good. It only feeds back if I crank it up real loud. I really need a pre-amp to be able to control the sound a little better. The multi colored Mexican b*** strings are gone now too, I got some hybrids off e-bay, the pickup came from there too. I wish I could remember the name of the company. Stay the hell away from Fishman pickups, they **** and they're really fragile. They won't stand up to a beating.
KING DOUBLEB***, folks! We do 'em for Danzig,Nekromantix,RevHH,Genitorturers,Lee Rocker,Tiger Army.... www.kingdoubleb***.com
hey Nads and Justin, I use the K&K with a pre amp and the sound is awesome and the feedback almost non existant. I can leave my b*** resting agaist my amp and walk away and nothing. JEEZUS! that pic scared the **** outta me...thought my Uncle Silas had found the HAMB...ya look just like him....spooky, man, spooky....
i just made a set of pickups for my b***...cost about $5 all together. all the parts are available at radioshack. you will need a preamp for use with this setup though. if you're interested in learning how, shoot me a pm. a really good site for all sorts of urb info is www.rockabillyb***.com there's a message board with tons of info on it. theres a forum all about pickups, preamps, mics etc.
Imade my own pick-ups from precision pickups. One per string, individualy adjustable for heigth so so dont have any hot strings.Mounted to a piece of wood you hang off the neck, surrounded by br*** on the sides,Removable and doesn't screw with the B***,I ran it through a SVT with no feed back,I could really crank it too.
now the feedback that develops is directional? like if you point the front of the b*** to the amp? this may be something i'm interested in........ i ask this cause i'm all about experimenting with feedback. i have a vox violin electric b*** that i can get to sound like a horn-
hey, sounds liek your running steel strings if your using a fender(?) precision b*** pickup. ive used this set up as well, its really good for loud situations but i find it almost totaly kills the tonality of the b***. the warm accoustic tones that make a double b*** killed on my setup - along with 99% of the clickity clickity of the strings. after swtiching to the K&K i got similar output results (not as good but close) but wiht alot more tonal quality. plus i get all of the string noise as well. and the best bit, is being a ***** i can use gut strings not steel. ouch. danny [ QUOTE ] Imade my own pick-ups from precision pickups. One per string, individualy adjustable for heigth so so dont have any hot strings.Mounted to a piece of wood you hang off the neck, surrounded by br*** on the sides,Removable and doesn't screw with the B***,I ran it through a SVT with no feed back,I could really crank it too. Oh Jesus hell my fingers hurt. We played three sets at a semi-gay bar on Saturday night, it was a blast. Mama San told our guitar player to get off the bar. I got play from a chick who rejected my adavances 13 years ago. We got paid $120 each man, it was a great ****ing night.
