The engine I'm currently building has a double shaft generator, the shaft runs all the way through the generator with the pulley on the front and a rag-joint on the back driving the water pump. The generator is weak and rebuilding is going to cost a bit of money. So I've been looking for a double shaft alternator and not having much luck. Anyone know of anything? I'd expect that the green energy guys have something like this for windmills, but have not been able to locate one. This picture shows a motor that has the right setup, anyone know of an similarly configured alternator?
I did a quick search and found this thread: http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=45216&page=301 I can't attest to the validity of the information, but it should give you a good place to start looking.
Awesome. thanks, I did a search on all terms I could come up with, but google didn't show me that link with a search for "through shaft alternator" Looking for the right part now. Thanks again
Might try one from VW type I,bug 73 and up.It has a shaft out the back that mounts the cooling fan. You will have to fab mounts. You can get one set up as one wire.good luck
That is the form factor I need, and it even looks right for the period car I'm building.. But it's only 30amps. not going to cut it.
yeah.. found it, thanks for putting me on the right track guys. Found an internally regulated 75Amp and an 85amp Alternator that will work for what I'm doing.. Bug parts ;-) For future reference the part number is AL82NC-85
isuzu medium duty, mitsubishi-fuso medium duty, & some fork lifts have through shaft alternators to run vacuum pumps or power steering pumps ed
