hey people. new to the board, new to actually doing something with a ride too if you wanna be honest. always been a hack mechanic.. you know, just enough knowledge to screw things up worse than they started? finally stepped in ****, got a 1960 pontiac star chief 4d post from friends for zip.... had to move a fence to get to it (story for another time) but she's mine and i'm finally making the first moves to building a real runner. figured i'd probably run across a lot of knowledgeable folks on here and plenty of people willing to throw caution to the wind and just bend metal to their wills. currently i have a work truck (newer f150), an old ****box chevy van ('80 G20) I'm trying to dump, an '05 Ural and a '91 sporty in my corral along with the poncho. tempted with plenty of other projects but, as I'd mentioned I'm a hack half-talent that doesn't know his *** from a torque wrench.. and working on **** in a stone driveway usually just ends in a lot of lost sockets and bolts.. so any help (read: scorn and ridicule for making excuses about not starting my project) would be appreciated fully. Maybe some of the spirit and talent i see in the people on here will rub off. Thought this would be the best place for some of my questions too... where's the best forum section for tech stuff? Oh yeah. Name's Ian. Still play music and I run a sign shop. Music since I wuz 17 and the sign shop since I was 26. I'm a sprightly 40 at the moment. Cheers!

A sixties ride is a great first project, parts are still available for the old Ponchos (check local before spending big bucks with specialty suppliers). They already have plenty of power and modern brakes and mechanicals. Sold a '63 a year ago. Oh yea, welcome aboard.
