Hey Guys Is anybody currently running a NON O.D. Nash 5 speed in their ride...and how do you like it? Thinking about one for my 'A' bone, don't have to destroy the floor with a "hump"!
My dad runs a doug nash five speed in his 78 cobra 2 mustang. Its a smallblock ford with cleveland heads like a boss. Its awesome to watch go down the track with the stick.
First thru 4th are geared for performance,5th is 1 to 1 so you can run a tall gear and still have the overdrive effect.Still not spinning the drive shaft as you would with overdrive.Love my Richmond.
Had one freshend at liberty.....blew it up Had it proshifted at liberty......blew it up several more times Had it faceplated at liberty......blew it up a coupla more times I have not had good luck with them at all 3400# and 900hp.
Came close to getting a job at Liberty... A buddy of mine works there that I worked with at Batten Performance in the early '90's....
Hey Jeff...what are you running for final drive gear ratio?? I don't think Rotten Johnny would agree with INDESTRUCTIBLE!
Hey Jeff Quote was used with humor intended. Thanks for the info, was trying to find out if guys had any luck with "high" gears to get an overdrive effect...2.33's 2.79's etc.
a friend has a Richmond 5 spd with a Long Shifter in his 39 sedan and 3.23 rear it works as everyone states 1st through 4th are close and make the rearend gears seem to be like 4.30 or so and 5th gear he can cruise down the interstate at 80 mph at about 2800 RPM.
I don't see why not, with the low first gear that's in them. Most OD transmissions that are in performance type Camaros (yea, I know), SSs, pickups and such end uo with somewhere around 2.40-2.80 final ratio in overdrive. I think that's what I would shoot for. As a side note, I'm putting 4.11's behind mine, but that's geared pretty high for what it's. Usta have 5.38's with a 4 speed in it.
Thanks guys..I am trying to keep rev's under 2000 at 60 MPH. I think 2.79 should do. Anyone had any concerns about shifting into reverse? I have a Hurst shifter, doesn't seem to be a lock-out.
