Read over the weekend of the passing of Doug Rice. The information was posted on FB by Irene Richardson. Doug was a racer on the dry lakes and Bonneville with his maroon 39 Ford coupe from the later 40's through the 50' s. His vehicle and his experiences racing have been featured in Rodders Digest, Rod and Custom as well as on line in several sites. Further information will be added as obtained. RIP Doug

  3. Yikes, another great man gone. I hope he is at peace. I’ve been lucky enough to see his coupe in person a few times. Pictures just don’t do it justice. RIP Mr. Rice.

Sorry to see this. I've lusted after the best looking 39 Ford coupe on Planet Earth since I was a little kid, and I'm 71 years old. RIP Mr. Rice. Thanks for telling us.

  11. The Bonneville Boomer article in HRM issue of December, 1954, made me fall in love with '39-'40 Fords:

Then to actually meet up with Don Richardson and the Doug Rice Coupe at the Salt in 2012 was an honor I will never forget:

RIP Doug Rice, your Coupe is your legacy.

Sincerest condolences. Some folks get all bent outta shape when famous actors die...me? I mourn the loss of the pioneers of this hobby. I find it interesting how so many folks today appreciate these cars yet how few get into building em. I hope another resurgence is on the horizon.
