Does anyone have an equivalent to ppg 585? Looks like it only offered in water base. The 585 grey is supposed to be a close match to the stock grill insert color IMG_6515.jpeg

Don’t know if the mixing numbers are still good or not, but here’s a formula I got somewhere.

I painted a couple Dales inserts with a rattle can grey I found at my local ACE hardware. Was very close. These cars weren't going for a Dearborn award so it was close enough for the customer.

I think it was Krylon but that was several years ago and Krylon ain't what it used to be. We just painted the new 32 pickup United Pacific rear fenders with Rusteolum 2X rattle can. Turned out great, didn't want a super nice finish on the beater pickup. I think it is available in lots of colors and I think it worked better than the old Krylon.

Them damn chips are small, but that’s what I might have to do. I wanted a good sample of dove grey or French grey to compare. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a proper grill color

I had it made in 2K with some flattener added to make it more satin.
