Dover Drag Strip Nostalgia Drags

My MG is finally done and will be at the Dover Drag Strip Nostalgia Drag races at Island Dragway this Saturday Nov. 7. Weather finally looks good. Last time the car raced was around 1968. Took it out last Saturday for a spin it sure felt good. First 2 pixs are Dover circa 64. Last one was Saturday 2009

 

When I hear of MG drag cars I always think of Don Noyes.We are planning to be there.

Awesome day, lots of cars, unbelievable turnout. Finally drove the MG down the 1/4 mile. Its not without some gremlins but we were there. Its been 45 years since I was in the car and the biggest problem is I'm bigger now.

What a day !!! Huge car turnout and lots of new, old friends and people we haven't seen in years !!! Cool and crisp weather -- I recorded my 2 fastest times ever today -- 10.50 @124.78 and 10.40@125.00 Damn, I'm happy....

 

Wait till' you see the pic John got of you today. I sent it to you already. You'll be changing your avatar. I got down to the last 3 cars in a cl*** with 97 cars in the first round. Track got cold, almost went into the fence on the 1-2 shift. Good day for me too. Also had my best ever 60' times today. Off to Atco tomorrow.

Great shots John. Can't wait to more from other HAMBer's in attendance. Other than the late model ambo, the place looks pretty much the same as in '64 when I ran my Dodge S/S for the last time.

 

I sold "The U.S.Mule II" to cover some kids college bills a few years ago. It is in Oregon now under restoration.

 

Rich you should have been there w/ Pinocchio. It was a trip back in time, there were so many cars.

Glad to hear it is being restored.Don has been to our South Glens Falls get together and is loaded with stories.Neat guy.
Went to Island with my friend,Racemad,who restored the Scotto&Blevins Nomad.Bill Isykowski showed up and gave us an earfull of info about running the Nomad in it's day.Thanks Bill.
