Yeah man, sounds like you can get it in the 12s, which as someone else said,is very respectable. Props to anybody that isn't scared to run a T that fast. I'd likea little (ok a lot) more metal around me. :D

That's the coolest looking T I've ever seen. The rollbar makes it look like it means business, and at a 13.1 it does!!

I think a steeper rear gear and it would be in the 12's, that said, it doesn't matter...Great story telling! I felt like I was there. Makes me want to have my little roadster there next year! although I've been saying that for three years!!hahaa

Great story, way to fight your nerves!! what a rush.

  4. Kool story, I felt like I was right there.

Is that the body I drug up from Oklahoma? If so, I'm glad to see something kool come out of it.

  9. Dennis, that is the neatest first timer drag racing story I have ever read!

The neat part about it is that you relayed what it was really like... ****erflys and all!

Add to that... your SECOND run was damn FAST!

Next thing you know... you'll want more motor, more traction, and more safety!

It's a drug man... and it's all good!

What a great story. I just couldn't stop reading, and then it was over and I wanted to read more. I think you may have missed your calling - move over 40Studedude!

Been away for a while, but the first thread I see when I log on is this. Very cool read indeed. Reminded me why the HAMB rocks.

That story was the best motivator for getting the truck done. Ever.

To tell the truth... you were looking a little nervous in the staging lanes.

I'll try to post the pictures of you next to the chaneled "A" sedan.

Glad you had a good time.

    The H.A.M.B. drags rule!!!

It was just like the Old Time drags used to be at Lawerence Dragstrip back in the mid 70's. Sod Buster can back me up on that one!

I can't wait until next year!!!!!

  25. Great story! Ha, shave the beard and you could probably pick up a 10th of a second or so! Thanks for sharing an honest impression of what its like the first time down the quarter. I hope to get one of my cars to the Antique Nationals out here and I think I'll have a better understanding of what it is going to be like thanks to your story! *****en car too!

  26. That's Great!! Way Cool story!! Hopefully I can make it next year, guess I should get the coupe drag race ready!!!

Great story! You weren't the only one with ****erflies! This trip was only the 3rd time we have driven the coupe. Never driven it over about 75, never run it thru the gears. My first run I was nervous as hell, this is the '04 HAMB Drags raffle engine, first HAMB Drags raffle engine to actually show back up in a car. What if I **** up? Maybe Fred is watching to see how his little SBF he built is going to do,... too much pressure. (Oh yeah, I'm 58 yrs old, not my first time down the track). First run I manually shift the stock C-4, go from 1st to 3rd, shift back into 2nd. 94 mph,14.45. Tooo much fun! Go back do it again, no anxiety, just can't wait to get rolling. This time do it right, 96 mph 14.48 second. I realize that with the pure stock C-4 and 3.56 rear gears and my lousy reaction time thats about all this baby is gonna do.
My goal was to show up with the engine in a car, make 1 p***. Did it!:D

By the way Dennis, it was nice to meet you!

Congrats on the first runs. No better place than the Hamb drags for your first time. I'm not a regular poster on the board, but everyone at the drags always made me feel at home.
