I think that the Calumet Auto Parts altered might have been John Forstka, ran a fuel coupe in the early '60s, while the California fuel altereds got the attention, John actually held the 1320 record around '61...was a regular runner at places like Union Grove, etc...

If these photographers are so worried that someone will save their pictures and/or re-post them on the internet then just dont bother to scan them in the first place. Watermarks look like crap. Whats the guy trying to protect anyway? There arent a whole lot of people roaming around who would give a rats ass about his pictures in the first place.

I think the number of posts and the number of pages in this thread say otherwise.

99% of those views are by the same people over and over who frequent this site. I have serious doubts that dude would ever be able to sell any of his pictures, all he is doing by putting watermarks on them is making them look crappy. Look at the pictures Mazooma1 posts, they are beautiful old photos and he doesnt bother to ugly them up with watermarks. Enough of this, back to your regularly scheduled programing. Just to keep this thread on topic, heres a couple of cool shots, without watermarks of course.

  17. Well maybe they care if they are THEIR work, their photography.
How would feel about somebody saying they did the work YOU did on your car?

  18. Jeez, we've beat this horse to death over and over. Muttley and his ilk don't have any concept of intellectual property, and believe that just because something is out in the open, it's fair game for picking. They don't "get it" and there's no amount of explanation that will help them understand why it's important. I believe people should get credit for their work, and if they use watermarks (which, by the way, the ones shown today are quite subtle compared to some I've seen) then I have no problems with that.

Man, I used to love this car. My only chance to see it was in the movie, Two Lane Black Top. Check out those skyscrapper Hillborns.

Bob Lunsford was one of the best from the state of Alaska. This car was on kill mode all the time.

Story behind Carl Heichel calling his car Carol's Mink was that his wife sold her fur coat to finance the project.

Thanks for background info on some of these pics.
A few stories are familiar but you certainly help me with the history on a bunch of them.
