    Thanks fellows !
I wish you guys had come along with this info yesterday. I nearly fried my brain thinking this one was from around here in middle Tennessee.

There are troves of left coast info, and a lot from the northeastern US, but not much from here in the south or from up north there, so I hope you guys stay and follow along, because I can't help but feel info from up there north of the border can add a whole lot to some of these photos here that pass through without any information. Mr. Scholz; About how many years ago was this car raced?

The only drag car I ever saw N02 on was a particular pro comp funny car that somehow had no problem qualifying 3/10th's quicker at the Sports Nats in 75'. NO2 has been around stock car racing forever. It wasn't until some body made a commercial company out of selling it and the kits to use it, did sanctioning inspectors start looking for it. I would imagen that yes, it would fall into B/G or something as the cars were gutted interiors/fiberglass etc. Just no injectors, only cross rams.

I never understood AHRA classes, but their Ultra Stock was not like Pro Stock. Was Ultra Stock limited by year model ?

    Post em' !
Any one of these random shots can have bushels of history and commentary if everyone has seen it, but let a pic slip in from Nashville or Alberta somewhere, and........... dead silence.
At least we're trying even if were dreamin'.
(still thought comp dragster was a nashville car though)

Ultra Stock I think was a by product of NASCAR from when they dabbled in the sport. There were also a lot of AHRA strips adjacent to some of the NASCAR sanctioned venues and they saw the popularity too. The class was a descendant from when they had the various SX classes: 2400 lbs fuel, 2400 lbs gas, et al. It preceeded pro stock by a couple of years and existed only regionally along the east coast. NHRA didnt invent pro stock as they would have everyone to think. The AHRA had the GT classes, a simple formula that allowed for some neat heads racing. Jenkins, Arlon Vanke, Sox and Martin were telling the oblivious NHRA that the GT classes were very popular and that they better embrace it. The AHRA also created an East Coast inj gas funny car circuit which ironically died off after a couple of years, but remained strong here in So-Cal for years to come as it evolved into the inj alky circuit from whence Ken Veney, Wilfred Boutilier arose.

Thanks WCD. I do not remember the NHRA GT classes, and I hate to admit this, but I can't recall ever seeing an AHRA rule book either.
I will agree that here in the east, there was a strong injected non-blower nitro presence in F/C as well as in altered like you mentioned earlier.
I recall Fred Cliffords 'GodFather' GTO injected fuel F/C from here in Nashville. Nice Logghe style chassis he and Norman Sitz built with a bigger 68 or 69 type GTO body from Don Gay. Super trick car all ready to go, a neat transporter too, but no where to run unless as an altered except like you said, So Cal.

I'm enjoying the education here; Tom S. in Tn.
