Yes, a straight 8 Buick on fuel...this is J.R. Bloom, later managed a Arizona drag strip (I forgot which one)...Buick theme carries over to the rear wheel covers...Aladdin Plating sponsored lots of Phoenix drag cars.

I think that this might be an early Bob Sullivan dragster...one of the great fuel builders and drivers from the Midwest, came to the West Coast often.

  4. Another Portland car, this one does back to the 50's, still exists. Taken by me at Woodburn with my trusty instamatic.

Speaking of straight 8's (above), this is Jarvis Earl at Pomona, maybe '53? Jarvis lived in La Canada, near Don Montgomery, Don knew him in the really early days...later ran a V-8 Buick that Tom Dyer drove...

Charles "Boogie" Scott from New Orleans, racing the late Tom McMullen, Winternationals...As Boogie was running a blower motor, he probably won (but I really don't know who won)...McMullen raced this car at the lakes, the drags, and on the street (chose me off in West Hollywood in broad daylight, I declined, he would have blown my doors of!)
