you should have seen the looks I used to get when I would show up to a track with my son's jr dragster in the bed of the truck and the roadster on the open trailer behind the truck. I should have a picture or 2 around here someplace. The real pain was that I could not unload the roadster with the Jr in the back of the truck as I have to tilt the trailer top to get the roadster off the trailer. I would have to disconnect the trailer, unload the junior, hook the trailer up and unload the roadster and reverse the whole process to load up. I still have a couple of scars on the hood scoop of the roadster from the nose of the junior after going through some pretty serious dips.

Re the post on the 1966 Australian Drag Fest I think it is Ron Colson in the spectator lane and Bob Keith in the lane closest to the camera. Colson drove his Supercharged S/B Chev gas Dragster sponsored by Nickey Chevrolet and Keith drove his Courtsey Chevrolet sponsored Supercharged B/B Chev rail. A question for trivia buffs. Was the Bob Keith rail the first Blown big block Chevrolet, the car arrived in Australia with the then brand new engine in it. The rail had been run prior to coming to Australia with a Hemi Chrysler. Bob Keith is said to have had to get the inlet manifold and some other parts custom made to enable him to run the B/B Chev power plant. The engine was a stroked 396 out to 500 cubic inches.

Were those shots from Drag City in Springfield? Killer stuff! Hell, man, there were dirt strips all over back then, there were three here(not all at once!) until '68 when the black top was laid down.

  13. Anyone remember Mahogany Rush? Seems I had seen some photos of an older car with his logo on it.

"The Flying Dutchman" Mopar on the left up against Les Richey's SOHC Mustang. Les would lose his life in this Mustang in a crash at Fontana not long after this photo was taken.
