There you are. I knew that I didn't ''dream'' that I had that conversation.

First, a couple from George Klass:

Scrima-Bacilek-Milodon sometimes driven by Pat Foster, other times by Roy "Goob" Tuller. Was a well finished car but like most streamlined dragsters of its time, the combined weight of the body and the aerodynamics doomed it.

    Zane Shubert at Pomona.

Willie at Bakersfield, right before Mousie Marcellus came on board and bought out Harrell. Notice that it is still classified as a fuel roadster, before the roadster and coupe classes were merged into "fuel altered."

Pretty sure that this is Safford, Gaide, and Ratican at Pomona, can't quite see the high tail on it to confirm.

    Maybe the NHRA Nationals?

No clue here...someone must know whose car this is, looks like "Cook's Auto" on hood

Lots of 554 pictures, but I don't remember this one...racing Jim Dunn, looks like Bakersfield. Notice that both these fuel coupes are running in the B fuel class.

    Doug Cook??

    Beaver Brothers??

At OCIR, no ID...except that it is an SPE car

Not much bracing on that roll bar...but at least it was head-high

My guess is Englishtown in the early years.

Also notice Willie has both hands on the steering wheel, he was known for driving with just one hand on the wheel, maybe the cars got progressively easier to drive as they got the wing settings figured out.

stone 4 .jpg I am not totally sure but this looks like it may be an early version of the Carl Stone "B" roadster out of Dallas. The second photo is a later version of the same car. About 25 years ago when I was in the market for a '32 roadster I tried to trace any remains of this car. Unfortunatly I was told that it had been wrecked and met it's demise. I had to try since it was such a cool car. This "B" roadster was a different car from the famous "Rollin' Stone" full fendered purple roadster.

  28. I thought I had every picture of the 554 there was. Never seen the one racing Dunn. Thanks for posting it.
