Gary when Bob told me that, you could have knocked me over with a feather

I figured he could not wait to get in his new roadster pick up and start having some fun, like the rest of us guys were having

And he never touched that engine for 40 yrs, now it is going into some kind of street rod after being detuned a bit and he got it for a song too. Had good parts - Carillo's - Forgetrues - Crower roller- Vertex mag on and on

Sounds like he should start reliving the childhood he never had.

    Hi Denny

Sad to say that Bob passed on a few yrs ago, and never knew the thrill of side stepping the clutch and hanging on for a neat ride

I know this one is out of bounds, and I will delete it if asked. Over 40 years ago, I ran this Jeep, Boss 302- 4 speed, it ran a best of 11.41 @ 117 (note the firesuit). It's popularity led me on a career change, to building cars for a living. Jeep 1.jpg

Wouldn't it fun to turn back the calender to 1955, and hang around my old friend Wayne Miller and watch him build this 32 roadster. Hot Rods were built to be raced, and his was no exception. Killer flathead with a Vertex Mag and all of the goodies. Here he is at the Scappoose Drags, here in Oregon. He is still building them today! 2012-10-11 101343.jpg 2012-10-11 101649.jpg 2012-10-11 101753.jpg 2012-10-11 101958.jpg

    Hey Marty

I think that we all would like to turn back the clock about 55 yrs, oh those were great days

  18. If I turned back the clock 55 years, I'd still own the car in my avatar. :(

  23. Would not be bad at all. It would be great. It's just that every time I think about how stupid I was, it makes me sad. Hence the :(.

  24. An S&S Parts Co. car out of Northern VA racing at Aquasco Dragstrip in MD. Not sure who's driving. Aquasco is another of those lost dragstrips. Ah, but the memories remain.

  26. Thanks for the update, Dave. Lots of great cars ran under that banner, including your '40 Willys.

  29. I agree Jimbo! It's too bad that it's covered with brush and weeds now.

I know, I wish I could have kept them all. The ones I miss the most are the '56 Vette sort of a gasser and the '55 Chevy gasser. And maybe the '40 Ford Coupe with the Olds.
I can see how your truck would be even more special. A true icon. When I first saw it in HR I thought, "Wow, that's really cool. And his dad is into it, too." My dad helped me with all the above cars (and more) but it was never his thing.
